    left hand grip slipping

So Ive been deadlifting pretty consistently for the past 5 months or so. I sttarted at 150 and now I'm doing 295 but my left hand is letting the bar slip down so that one side is a couple inches lower than the other. I'm worried about increasing the weight while doing lopsided reps. Should I lower the weight and wait for my hand strength will improve or keep increasing weight. Thanks.

What grip are you using? You can go for mixed grip or hook grip if you're not doing that already.

Chalk also helps. You can use liquid chalk if your gym does not allow the powder form.

If you are also not planning to compete in powerlifting there is nothing wrong with using straps for your heavy sets.

I do an overhand grip with both hands. Is it normal for me to be slipping at this weight or should my grip be stronger?

Pulling almost 3 plates for reps with a double overhand grip actually seems quite good if you're just a few months in. Well, I'm not sure what's "normal". But I use mixed grip for anything over about 2 plates. Then again, I had the grip strength of a little girl when I started, so that's significant progress.

I’m at that weight too and I’m using mix grip. Agreed, your grip is stout being able to not use mix grip already! I always threaten to buy straps but never do... lol
