have you ever summoned up some force of violence during your workout to muster the strength to complete a set?

have you ever paced back and forth before your 3rd set of squats and been literally scared to get under the bar because you barely finished your 2nd set and you feel like you can't even get 1 more rep? but you go for 5?

edit - I'll tell you the answer, it's NO because you are a pussy and rather make excuses as to why your physique and strength levels are garbage. Lifting for aesthetics bro, trying not to get too big bro. STFU

From my personal unscientific observations, it seems like it's mainly black guys that can make significant gains from high rep/pumping lifting.

To the average person it is a big lift. Among the serious bb and pl community it is pretty standard.

This. If you're natural, you're simply not going to get bigger without simultaneously getting stronger, and vice versa. It's always funny that people who spout this "I just lift for looks" are both weak and small, because they don't understand progressive overload. Have fun benching 185x12 "for the pump" for life, OP.

If you're on lance armstrong time, its a totally different approach, no hate, but let's be real.

Also who was body types and metabolism etc etc.
    wrong

the only difference is recovery time and workout duration and diet, but the actual type of training and lifts you choose does not change much from natty to tropicana with the same goal in mind.

also lol at narrow minded simple view of "progressive overload = gain", thats like saying "eating protein = building muscle", yes, progressive overload is very important to build optimal mass but it is not in and of itself the only thing you need to build mass, there is far, far more to building mass than "progressive overload"

ummmm well theres this thing called nutrition, rest, recovery, genetics, supplementation, but if you want to speak strictly to the actual gym portion there are concepts of cell swelling, muscle fatigue, muscle tissue damage, learning the correct way to target each muscle group i.e. both tricep heads, all 4 porions of the quadricept, lower lats, etc... you also cant do the same form of progressive overload over and over and over or you will plateau with size, you have to introduce other variables like increased volume, decrease rest, exercise variability, time under tension, slow concentrics and eccentrics.

If we are talking beginner in their first 6 months okay maybe progressive overload is size gains, but still nutrition and recovery are far far more important to mass building than that. Someone hitting the same **** day in day out at the gym with no progressive overload and a spot on diet/rest will have considerably more gains than the idiot going into the gym doing bench/squat/dead every week and adding a 5 to each side each time but eating cereal and pasta drinking sodas.

ITT people think you can't overload progressively without 'lifting heavy' (ie 1-5 reps).

thats like 90% of the people who talk about progressive overload unfortunately. They get hung up on the word "over" and think it means "heavier"

Hell you can even argue further the meaning of "heavy" because I guarantee I can make 20 lb dumbbells heavy to every muscle group to anyone.

    Ryan Casey
    Dylan McKenna
    Qwin
    David Laid
    Etc...

All on roids, physiques aren't even that great. No one cares u can bench 3 plates for reps while taking they all claim natty.

Brb ZYZZ had goat bod but didn't even lift heavy.

I'm tired of the fitness industry scamming ppl with their programs and plans when they all tech and claim natty. What losers
lol this is not true at all

also zyzz is in the 99.99 percentile of genetics and blasting roids so basing your opinions of programming off of his is retarded

Lets all talk about the goat. Lets take push day.

Two compounds Heavy 3-5 reps Bench OHP

Secondary Two compounds 6-10 reps dips, behind neck press

Contraction movement 10-15 reps isolating the desired muscle hammer strength press, lateral raises.

Do this for every session and you will be gaining strength and size.

Mind blown @ most people in this thread. Its 2018 for fuks sake, its been concluded any rep range will produce results in size. Strength not so much the high reps you go. Multiple studies have concluded this and people here are assuming its black and white.

I utilize a rep range of 6-15. If I go below 6 form is compromised, and in all honesty, years of lifting like a power lifter is gonna fuk most people up later in life, not including the possibility of going to snap city before hand.

Progressive overload isn't just weight increased over time, it involves a number of techniques, reps, etc.

I build strength fine in the 6-10 rep range. Dont need to be fukking lifting 315 for 3 reps. I could care less about my numbers as long as I'm increasing weight every 1-2 weeks.

Doing something similar. I don't increase weight until I can consistently hit 10-9-8 reps across 3 sets.
