Jesus christ. That second punch was completely unnecessary. He was out of it after the first shot. The way he held up rockhold's head to tee off on him...just brutal.
These are the kind of shots that people get alzheimers later in life from. If I was rockhold I'd retire. After a certain point your life is important than chasing fame or money.

Man rockhold was out cold after that first punch, you can even see it in Luke's eyes he was dazed and didn't know where the fuk he was...
fukn Romero LMFAO man's is the worlds best unintentional entertainer and brings the lulz and memworthy chit every time
Dude proceeds to KTFO Rockhold, then kisses Luke on the cheek and says I love you to assert further dominance. At that point you might as well take your shorts off, bend over and let Romero make sweet gay natty jesus love to you. There is no recovering from this, Luke has a new cuban daddy, LMFAO.

I thought he looked bad for different reasons in the Weidman fight vs. Branch/Bisping. The latter two were more an issue of defensive irresponsibility (that sadly he showed flashes of last night too).
I agree that he looked pretty good last night in other areas, he had some nice kicks and his jab was just starting to pick up. Very disappointing.

Yeah. There's a difference between a follow up if you're unsure, but he was sure. Luke was basically out, arms spread wide, defenseless, eyes rolled back, it was obvious it was over. That was an uncalled for full force uppercut. Hopefully one day someone shows Yoel the same disrespect. A shot like that can ruin your life, and in some cases even kill you.

That's totally ridiculous. You don't know whether he was sure and you're making that determination with the benefit of hindsight and under far more favorable circumstances. Romero wasn't calmly reviewing an instant replay from a computer while completely detached from the action, roaring crowd, effects of adrenaline, and personal investment in outcome.

Agreed can't stand that *******, whenever he ko'd somebody in the UFC he would stand over them yelling chit in their faces like a scumbag piece of trash, and he has the audacity to talk chit to an elite top 5 talent losing by ko when he's 1-9 in his last 10 and constantly getting KTFO in hilarious fashion, always lol when he lumbers over like a big oak tree. Fuk that guy.

This exactly. I have no idea why that would be controversial at all. Literally every fighter with a KO has done the same chit so are we going to complain about that too? Gonzaga vs Cro Cop, Ngannou vs Alistair? Henderson vs Bisping 1?
It's pretty much an unwritten rule that you keep fighting until the ref stops it. And refs usually do a relatively decent job of doing so unless you're Mario Yamasaki. Why risk a person recovering from shots and miss out on an opportunity to fully put your opponent away definitively. Literally happens all the time, Luke Rockhold just happens to be glass-chinned so one shot put him away. He still had his eyes open, slumped against the cage so it's better to be safe than sorry and deliver the finishing blow. It's not a fighter's job to calmly assess the situation from afar as Millington mentioned for like 5 seconds and make a determination whether or not Rockhold was knocked unconscious. You're in the moment, fighting for a title shot, loud as fuk crowd, adrenaline pumping. Aint nobody got time for dat chit.

You are not wrong at all...in fact you are right. The other side of the coin is that Mark Hunt walks off after he scores a fight ending blow. He has the same amount of adrenaline and his opponents have the same option to recover. To simply excuse fighters blows because they are "in" the fight requires you to excuse and or justify actions like the final blow in Bisping vs Henderson.
I do feel Romero was just "in" the fight and there was nothing malicious. To simply say a fighter cant maintain control and potentially prevent long term injury is a bridge too far for me, however. The refs should deal with this but everyone explodes when there is an early stoppage.

Mark Hunt is an exception and one of the relative few, it just happens that when he knocks somebody out they don't move but at the same time he also risks a fighter being able to move and recover from that shot.
even here, Mark Hunt walks off but you can see him come back because he wasn't sure if he was knocked out. Plus he sort of become known for the walk-off KO so I think he started to do it after he would hit somebody with punch that would knock them down hard.

His eyes were still open, he was sitting up, and the ref hadnt stepped in to stop it yet...it was completely necessary. You fight until the fight is stopped, it would be foolish to let a TKO slip away by hesitating and allowing your opponent to recover. These guys sometimes bounce back from insane punishment really quickly, it was Yoels job to jump in there and finish him off.
It was brutal looking, but he did absolutely nothing wrong by putting the stamp on that fight and sending it home. For every man, there is a sentence, a string of words, that has the power to destroy him
