    Desperate to join the army//Pull-ups

Sorry if the thread title sounds weird, English is not my first language.

So, I want to join my country's army and one of the tests one should perform is pull-up: at least 8 repetitions. I'm a student who spend my entire days sitting in front of a computer, i.e., I have low resistance.

What I'm doing is some push-ups (can do only 5-6 of them) to get my arms stronger before even trying pull-ups. The thing is that the army exam will be in 6 months. Do you guys think I can be able to do 8 reps of pull-up until there? How much time should I dedicate each day?

Yeah man you can definitely do 8 reps in 6 months.
Try doing like 4 sets of push ups each day
If you have dumbbells, work you arms and back. Each week increase the weight slightly and eventually you’ll be able to do a pull up. You can even use a resistance band to help you with your first pull up.

I don't have dumbbells. Would only push-ups be sufficient for the purpose? If not, I can try to get dumbbells.

Start trying to do pull ups every single day.

Do negatives and your body will adapt.

Doing push ups won't help you do pull ups as the only things your arms are good for is Grip.

Progressively increase on inverted rows to build the muscle needed to do pull ups.
