    when to start the cut

Been on a consistent bulk since july gradually increasing calories when plateux is has been reached and taken my bodyweight from 75kg to 86.5kg with noticeable increase in muscle mass on my frame, currently the strongest i have ever been but also holding a little extra weight as to be expected.
Probably around 15-16% bodyfat right now with 2 months of the bulk left. Back in july 2017 I knew i was going to uni in september 2018 so planned to do a good 9 month bulk and then reduce calories to reduce body fat gained over the winter so that i am in good shape for uni.
Was planning on starting a controlled gradual cut around march/april so i am lean for summer too.
I am allowing 3 months for this slow cut so my question is would 3 months be more than enough time to cut properly (ie. not crash diet) in order to retain most of the muscle mass i have gained over the bulk?

Cuts are usually during a 3 month time frame.
Depending on where you're at, you might not get the results you're hoping for in 3 months.
But it will make you look more lean and fit for sure, if you've put on some muscle mass!

Depends on how much weight you plan to cut during the 3 months.

0.5-1.5 lb per week would be a good rate to minimize muscle loss. Which over 3 months which is around 13 weeks would mean 6.5-19.5 lb (3-9kg)
