Whats the best subsitute for proper farmers walk implements

Not able to train at a gym that has these unfortunately
I could use barbells, dumbells or trap bar?
With BB and DB i cant grip as much weight as with proper implements so its not working my body so hard.
But with the trap bar its not two separate holds so would that be a bad substitute?
I really need to work on my grip.

If it's grip you want I'd go for dbs, always used them in my gym personally and they kill my grip more than anything.
If it wasn't grip you were targeting I'd vote trap bar probably.

They make removable handles that can be used on barbells, not sure on the price or reliability though.
