The only Haitian-American member of Congress is Republican:
http://www.cnn.com/2018/01/14/politi...ntv/index.html
Republican Rep. Mia Love deplored President Donald Trump for reportedly criticizing immigrants coming to the United States from what he called "****hole countries."
"I can't defend the indefensible. You have to understand that there are countries that struggle out there. But their people, their people are good people and they're part of us. We're Americans," Love, the first Haitian-American elected to Congress, said on CNN's "State of the Union."
Referring to immigrants from African countries, Trump asked lawmakers during an Oval Office meeting on immigration reform, "Why do we want all these people from '****hole countries' coming here?" a source briefed on the meeting told CNN.
The President has denied making the comment.
"The language used by me at the DACA meeting was tough, but this was not the language used. What was really tough was the outlandish proposal made - a big setback for DACA!" Trump tweeted on Friday.
close dialog
Love, whose parents immigrated from Haiti, told "State of the Union" that she thinks the President's comments were racist.
"I think they were, yes. I think they were unfortunate. I don't know if they were taken -- I wasn't in the room. I know the comments were made. I don't know in which context they were made," she said. "I'm looking forward to finding out what happened, but more importantly, I'm looking forward to fixing the problem."
Love also told "State of the Union" that she was contacted by the White House to discuss immigration reform. "I don't know if those comments would be made if I was in the room," she said.
Love had called on Trump to apologize for his comments earlier this week.
"The (President's) comments are unkind, divisive, elitist, and fly in the face of our nation's values," Love said in a statement Thursday night. "The President must apologize to both the American people and the nations he so wantonly maligned."

What's the proper word for anyone who criticizes Trump? Is she libcuck? Is that word? Cuckservative? Maybe that's the word?

Look at her immigration stances:
As the daughter of immigrant parents, Mia understands the importance of sound immigration policy. The US has been both economically and culturally enriched by the determination, strength, and diversity of immigrants who have sought better lives on American soil. Mia supports legal immigration, and has fought for an immigration system that facilitates the American dream and incentivizes would-be immigrants to arrive through the proper channels. She has worked hard, and will work even harder, to secure the US border, prevent visa overstays and abuses, and modernize the outdated legal immigration system.
The following represent a few of the actions Mia has taken as well as her proposals to fix the broken system:
• She has strongly opposed the President’s unilateral action to override the US immigration laws, because such overreach threatens the system of government, the rule of law, and sends the wrong message to immigrants
• She has supported, and will continue to support, legislation to ensure enforcement agencies are equipped to secure our border, thereby protecting the nation from potential security threats such as ISIS
• She will continue working to prevent visa overstays, which account for nearly 40% of the illegal immigration in the country
• She will push for the implementation of an entry-exit tracking system, which has been mandated by law for years
•She has supported, and will continue to support, legislation to create an entrepreneur visa, creating a process for skilled international entrepreneurs to start small businesses and hire American workers on United States soil
• She has supported skilled visa reforms that will lead to a fair and equitable immigration process and will allow international students who graduate from U.S. colleges to contribute their skills to American companies, instead of foreign companies

Are these positions so terrible?

These are the kind of people Trump and Trump supporters are pushing out of the party.
Good job guys. Congrats.

So time for some cliffs:
Trump did not call Haiti a chithole
Trump wants to remove Haiti from the temporary protected status deal (which makes sense)
Trump may or may not have called African countries 'chitholes' when talking about the diversity lottery (he is correct, even if he said it)

He has defended his position. Hes been calling for an end to chain migration, lottery migration, ect, and implementing a merit based system that several countries including Canada, Australia and Norway use.
What he isn't defending is the ****hole comment, which he has flatly denied saying. But if he did say it, it isn't wrong. Those countries are absolute ****holes. Immigrants from Norway would be better. Both those statements are true.

You think 2008 is a normal democrat turnout when it isnt. Youre not going to get 2008 obama level turnout again. In 2016, you guys had 5 million less votes from the 2008 level. The republicans had about 4 million more votes in 2016 compared to their 2008 levels... so one party is descending while the other party is ascending. (And take out the illegal votes and the democrats probably have a lower turnout if we're being honest...)
You think you'll carry states like Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and michigan? These states dont care about identity politics like the race obsessed coastal areas. These states care about jobs, and rising incomes. Theyre also mostly white. You think attacking whites with race obsessed politics will make more white ppl flock to the left?
All trump has to do is secure the same states he won in 2016 by a booming economy and he'll win again. Democrats can have the moral victory of a 1-2% higher overall turnout. But they'll still lose the electoral college.EMT/Firefighter Crew

Not surprisingly our r/p board Leftists ignored this bulletin from the State Department...
...have fun getting car jacked leaving Port-Au-Prince International Airport and -or being overcome by an angry mob while involved in a fender bender, and you better have cash when you drunkingly fall off that motel balcony because they don't accept medical insurance... 2018 Spring Break in Haiti!

Careful for calling out Big Kahoona and his country man, he got butthurt and negged me for that comment about the Gulf states' aversion to taking in refugees. That must be a sore spot for him. The west= open borders for everyone and anyone. Non-western world= protect your sovereignty, heritage, and borders. The truth hurts.

There you go sillie...no one polishes a turd like you. After losing the first 4 or 5 special elections you guys finally won a few... Did you know that the democrat turnout in the 2008 senate race in Alabama was HIGHER by almost 100k than it was in the 2017 senate race? And the then Jeff sessions carried the state by almost 1 million more votes? Democrats won in '17 because republicans didn't back Roy Moore. There's no chance you keep Alabama in 2020.

I'm talking about recent dem turnout and you're talking about dems not being able to win Bama in 2020. Duh, dems can lose Bama every day of the week and twice on Sunday and sitill hand Trump a massively embarrassing loss in less than 3 years. We'll see what happens in November, incumbents typically face an uphill battle in midterms anyway but if dem turnout continues to be large that will be a clear sign for 2020.
Early AM workout crew.
Holy crap dude, Satan's huge crew.

You're recent dem turnout in bama is the lowest it's been in 30+ years for a democrat candidate. And you're bragging about the turnout...
A lot remains to be seen. If republicans show up as they have in the last few elections over the Obama years, then they will win easily. The democrat surge will not be enough no matter how good you feel about it. The only way democrats win is with low Republican turnout
That is a possibility. A lot of republican congressmen are retiring. As to how that will affect things is anyone's guess. It could be a good thing that the incumbent is gone, or it could be a bad thing due to not enough name recognition.
With that said, IF democrats regain control of Congress in '18, they better govern and not just be about resisting or impeachment. That will only motivate republicans for 2020. And democrats in traditional Republican states will lose badly.EMT/Firefighter Crew

Dems and liberals spend months telling everyone Roy Moore is a ****phile and you can't vote for him, then when he loses they act like its because people don't like Republicans.
How can you be THAT fukcing dishonest and not even realize it? That is delusion level.
To leftists - You've gone ****ing nuts. You shouldn't even be trusted with a vote at this point. You're not well.

It has the potential to be a bloodbath. But again, if democrats are not putting forth solid policy agendas and instead, are all about resisting and impeaching Trump, there will be a backlash against them come 2020...Not only would that be in the Congress and senate, but it would also help Trump.

Okay I give up.
In on coming election discussion thread.
2018 is still gonna be a solid GOP win, and they need to do very little to make it happen
All they need is to keep poking at the dems and watch them continue to self implode.
As long as
1. The dems continue to push the Russia thing
2. Dems continue pushing sjw crap
3. CNN keeps being CNN
4. #metoo gains traction
5. NFL repeats bs next year in election cycle
6. The dems and media continue to spin everything as racism
Then GOP is good to go
The GOP needs at least some part of the wall construction started, the fact that it won’t work doesn’t matter.
If they get an infrastructure bill passed it will be icing on the cake.
One of the big unknowns that could have a dramatic impact is what Janet Yellen may or may not do.
2020 is hard to tell still, greatly dependent on who the democrats run as a candidate.Intelligent individuals learn from every thing and every one; average people, from their experiences. The stupid already have all the answers.

Gender should be inconsequential since depending on our mood and day of the week in the US, we can choose amongst 59 different genders.
Ambassador to the UN: Indian-American Unicorn*
HUD Secretary: African-American
Labor Secretary: Hispanic-American
Transportation Secretary: Asian-American Unicorn*
Education Secretary: Caucasian-American*
DHS Secretary: Caucasian-Unicorn*
Administrator of the Small Business Adm.
.: Caucasian-Unicorn*
*Personally identifies as a female upon last gender qualification
That's a lot of women, and minorities for a "racist-male-chauvinist?!"
BRB GOP also nominated the only African- American, and first Hispanic-American on SCOTUS
but, but, but, these minorities aren't Leftists so it doesn't count!!!!!!!

Nope
Okay, since nobody knows how to read charts: Since FDR, the democrats have been making lower lows and lower highs every single election besides 2008 when Obama got elected. They have been in a sharp decline and extrapolating the chart another four points to a party that'll be nonexistent. Meanwhile the republicans are fairly steady in their control of congress and should continue making gains. Sorry, but this what the historical trend for the parties has been. There's nothing you dems can do about it at this point. Maybe try and create another liberal party that's actually liberal and not Marixst. Until then, keep taking L's in elections.Last edited by Venom08; 01-15-2018 at 10:27 AM.

This would be my thinking too. 2018 losses would be a wake up call and a call to action for 2020. Tax reform was so ****ing huge because this economy will be growing at a healthy 3-4% by then. Good luck getting trump outta office with a booming economy. He'll have Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Ohio locked up. Change course on marijuana and he could potentially even have Colorado. But there still remains a lot to be seen. I don't see 2018 losses as bad as the dems do. It'll just motivate repulicans for 2020. Especially if all the dems controlled Congress does is resist and obstruct. Also the best thing they could do for Trump is try and impeach him. They'll make a martyr outtra him either way.

This is a possibility and one of many big variables for 2020. Pelosi wasn't a very good speaker back when she was fully coherent. Now that she's showing signs of dementia as well, there's 0% chance she's anything but an embarrassment. The Dems would be wise to pick someone else as speaker when they win back the House.
