Rep Fitness Stainless Steel Power Bar Review

Hey everyone, I just published a review of the Rep Fitness Stainless Steel Power Bar if anyone is interested in reading. Overall, I'm definitely a fan of the bar. I doubt I'll use it much on deadlifts, but I like it a lot on squats and bench.

Nice review & pics! The knurl looks very well done. Just such a phenomenal price on stainless bar. I will definitely be picking up the V3 with undated knurl marks.. if I can hold off from buying the V2. Lol.

Nice review! I can certainly relate to the comments regarding the 'flawless' condition, my REP V1 knurling and sleeves were in perfect condition and it's a testament to the quality REP is producing these days on their barbells. I would have bought one if I didn't want to experiment with a more aggressive knurling, but this looks like 'THE' bar to buy right now if you want a 'Stainless Steal' (pun intended bwhaha). Hopefully they sell out soon so I don't talk myself into needing a third barbell LOL.

Nice review and pretty much the exact impressions I had of it (For what that is worth)

I would be happy with a bit more aggressive knurling, but this bar has become my bench press and squat go to bar, while using a much more expensive Eleiko bar to deadlift with. If I didn't have other bars to choose from the RF Bar would be completely satisfactory for all lifts (albeit requiring chalk a bit sooner).
If RF were to make a more aggressive version it could lead me to selling the Eleiko, since I really don't do any Olympic lifts.

Even with the marks being off by 3" I think this bar is a better purchase than the Cap OB-86 Bar for an all around bar, especially given what the price of the Cap Bar has gotten up to.

Thanks for the review and pictures were nice to see. I'm looking forward to the next corrected batch too. I'd like a deeper knurl on a power bar myself.

How did this even happen? Didn't this used to be a $100 bar tops (CAP OB-86 bar)?

It's $167 on Amazon now, granted that includes shipping, so depending on your distance to Colorado the Shipping cost on the Rep Bar may make put it way out of the same price category. But it is a stainless 29mm bar, I guess it is up to the purchaser to decide if it is worth the difference.

No, $99 was a deal. It's been pretty consistently in the $130-140 range for the last several years.

    Per CamelCamelCamel:

    Current $166.97 Dec 23, 2017
    Highest * $187.50 May 19, 2010
    Lowest * $99.00 May 19, 2016
    Average + $140.81

Your review is spot on, the knurling is mild/medium but some how feels really good. My biggest complaint abut the bar is the lateral movement with the sleeves. If they could tighten up the tolerances there this would be a excellent barbell. I am using this more than my rogue obp. It really is a unbelievable deal between this and the rep FB-5000 bench I am very pleased with the offerings from rep

Thanks for the feedback guys! FWIW I am going to visit our factories at the end of the month, and one thing on my "to-do" list is checking out some knurl samples I requested. I'd like 2 versions of this bar: The current with medium knurl, and another with deep/sharp knurl. Then it will be up to the customer for their preference.

Also FYI there is no V3, just actually doing the V2 correctly. Then the bar is done. But there will be V2 standard, and V2 deep knurl.

Nice review and beautiful pictures. They really show off the knurl. Question: did you weight the bar? I noticed the 45lb spec, but didn't see a verification of how on the money it is compared to OPB, for example. Not a huge deal, but curious.

Secondly, is it just me or do those knurl marks look a bit wide? (I know, I know, super nit-picky, just curious). How do they compare to your OPB?

A few things Rep should get HUGE props for are the SS sleeves and the fact that they're smooth. I don't know where this whole notion about weights staying on the bar better if the sleeve ribbed for her pleasure, but we have collars. If we want the weights to stay on, they will.

I'd personally want to tweak the bar just slightly, but I see the v3 as being a very popular option.

Thank you for the great review! As someone new to lifting, this bar has made the PB choice very hard. A year ago I would have gone with the OPB and never thought twice. Now though it seems like there will be 2 class leading options for under 300, albeit with different strengths. Hence I was eager to compare the score you gave the V2 to the score you gave the OPB to help me make a decision, haha.

So those of you who own both bars, if you could own only one, which would it be?

I'm gonna say that based purely on cost I'd go Rep. The OPB in stainless is alot more money and I couldn't justify the cost of the OPB with no stainless sleeves.

I did weigh the bar (photo below and attached). It's perfect. I may try to squeeze it into the review, but I had a hard time deciding where to put it. As for the knurling compared to OPB, I don't notice much in the way of the Rep being wider. If it is, it seems minimal. Totally agree with you on the sleeves! They're really beautiful.

Hence I was eager to compare the score you gave the V2 to the score you gave the OPB to help me make a decision, haha.

So those of you who own both bars, if you could own only one, which would it be?
    Thank you for reading!

The OPB is one of my favorite bars, but the Rep has given me a lot to think about also.

If stainless steel is important to you, I would go Rep without hesitation. The value is amazing for a stainless bar.

If aggressive knurling is important to you and you have time to wait, I would go with the deeply knurled Rep bar that Duke mentioned above. If you can’t wait, the OPB is great. The knurl is really, really good... one of, if not the best.

Nice detailed review.. looks like a great bar..Rep is doing a nice job.

I just purchased a Gladiator bar, 8 bar gun rack and premium lifting belt and I’m very pleased with the quality of of the products.

Minor detail, but it does say 20kg on the end cap, which is actually 44 lbs. Looks like the bar weighed in right at 45 lbs. KG folks might care more, but at this price point, as long as it's somewhere b/w 44-45, I'm good with it.

Which being 45 is good for the pound people. Most get bars that are 20kg and still count it as 45.

Yeah I generally prefer 20kg/44lb, but I always use collars to bring it close to 45. But most of our weights aren't that accurate anyway, so it's kinda a moot point, I guess. Lol.

I would like to be on a "pre-order list" for the more agressive knurl.

What is the time frame for this?

Likely 4-5 months assuming I like what I see/feel at the end of the month.

Awesome review and sweet looking barbell. How are the power rings offset? I’m assuming three inches too wide.

    Thanks
