I was fortunate to be chosen to review Animal's new high protein "Snack" bar prototype. No information is available concerning the ingredients and macronutrient breakdown. However, Animal has described the product as the following:
"A new and unique approach to bars. Not a "high protein" bar specifically, though it's packed with quality protein. Instead, think of this prototype more as a "whole food" type bar that can be used whenever you need a quick influx of quality calories–between meals, after lifting, etc. It features fresh ingredients like real peanut butter, rolled oats, honey, almonds, and sea salt among other things."
So from an ingredients/macros perspective the bar probably isn't for strict dieter but sounds like a really awesome high protein snack.
I tried a single sample of two different flavors: Rich chocolate peanut butter and peanut butter, honey, and oat.
I would say apart from the chocolate flavoring both bars taste similar. The flavor is subtle and naturally sweet - the peanut butter comes through well. The bar has a some serious density and chewyness to it, but it doesn't takeaway from the experience of the bar - just be ready to chew. I find both bars to be pretty enjoyable, but I wouldn't call the flavoring gourmet or encroaching on taste that would level with a candy-bar taste, which one shouldn't expect from a healthier type option.
Peanut butter, honey, and oat bar (Flavor 9/10)
Rich Chocolate Peanut Butter Bar (Flavor 9/10)
Very eager to see the ingredients and macros, but I think Animal did well with the flavoring and texture of the bar. They are easy to eat and enjoy!

They are pretty satisfying though I had no trouble eating both back to back. They're reasonable sized but not huge. I think they be presented more as a meal adjunct than a full meal replacement or a standalone protein bar. Kind of its on thing aka the "snack" branding.
