There's two types of crypto investors there are the ones who are literally the exact same as day traders. pure speculation trying to buy low and sell before it peaks. Then there is the other type, it's become a meme when one of these types had a typo trying to say the word "hold" and spelled it "HODL". The latter type are in the for the long run because they typically side with austrian economics and believe that not only will adopting BTC (the tickr symbol for Bitcoin) as a currency will bypass our welfare state and all the taxes they have to pay, but the more important problem with money in most countries with fiat currency, is that Bitcoin is finite its like when we were on the gold standard. Right now the reason we have inflation is because the Federal Reserve prints money and devalues our currency in order to pay their bills. All this welfare social security medicare medicaid, the military industrial complex, the taxes we pay, at 4T annually, STILL can't cover those costs and promises, so they print money to cover it.

This video is the best 30 minutes I can show you to understand the long term goal of cryptos:

If you understand why the latter half is invested in cryptos, even right now with BTC being priced relatively high, investing about a grand or two, if bitcoin takes over as currency when the next financial crisis happens (note, that I said WHEN) owning a 1/4 of a bitcoin will be the equivalent of owning anywhere from 100,000 to a million dollars in today's USD.
    Dude.....no

Because the price wouldn't collapse. Because it can't be seized by the government. Because there is a fixed supply. Because it is not issued by a central bank.
