Let’s squat 10 million pounds!

Since no one has made a squat thread this year, I thought it would be cool to do something a little different.

So instead of just counting reps, multiply your reps by the amount of weight lifted, then add your total to the previous total.

I think this will be more interesting than just going by the number of reps, since we’ll be able to see who’s moving the most tonnage, which doesn’t tell the whole story, but does give a little more information. Plus, no inflating the total by doing lots of bodyweight squats, since something times zero is zero.

I had no idea where to set the target, partly because I expect there could be reduced participation due to the increased amount of math involved, but I went with 8 figures because 7 figures seemed like not enough and 9 figures seemed like too many, but maybe we can go for more millions if this thing catches on.

Let me know if we need to add more rules or definitions, but for now I’ll assume we all know what a squat is and how this thing works, so I’ll just start.

I doubt this is gonna catch on. Partly because nobody wants to sit there and multiply it all out and then add it all up, and secondly because about half of this forum doesn't come from North America and we'd have to work it out and then convert it to lbs. Which means a lot of decimals.

I thought about that, which is why I lowered the target a little to account for people being scared off by the extra math. But on the other hand, how much tonnage you lifted is kind of a neat number to know, so some people may find it enjoyable.

I went with lbs because it does seem to be the more common unit of measurement that I see on the forums, but yeah, go ahead and round off those decimal points.
