I have semi awkward proportions (super short, longer legs, shorter torso). Conventional DL looks like a half RDL for me. So I change it up a lot. 2/3 times I'd pull sumo. Just because it feels more natural, I'm also super flexible in my hamstrings so sumo helps make me feel like I'm actually extending my glutes and hamstrings properly. Still pull conventional sometimes just for more quads activation.
They said she's gone too far this time

I used to be really into pulling, actually reached 675, but now i'm like....lol@deadlifts
nobody cares except people in your own little circle of tards, it's like being the best in 'drifting' at need for speed, everyone except your little circle of dork friends are like 'wut.'
Anyway, you have to go with your strengths & weaknesses. If you have short arms and strong hamstrings, sumo....strong spinal erectors and long arms, conventional

It's just not for me man. Just looking at these vids I'm like nah fam, das not it mane. Don't fight so hard for our approval though, do you man.
I am also more of a fan of the deep squats over the 'barely' parallel ones.
Also I'm not a fan of powerlifters using a HUGE arch with tiny rom either. I still use an arch, but some people exaggerate it so much that it takes everything away from the lift
Oly lifting just seems more sensational to watch and has more functional benefits than powerlifting. Of course it's good to mix a bit of everything, I just find powerlifting has so many things I feel could be changed.
Only reason I started deadlifting was because I had absolutely 0 signs of traps, and all the miscers I looked up to at the time that had huge traps deadlifted heavy weight. I decided to throw them in my routine and got pretty good at them and just kept progressing. You're ultimately right though, it's not a 'necessary' lift.
