Hi Will, I'm just new to the supplement world so would you mind explaining a little bit in term of the way manufacturer labelling their products?
For example, it is stated that "25 g protein, 5.5 gram BCAAs and 2.7 g leucine", but the serving size is just 31 g. How would that be possible, not to mention that there are other ingredients like Carbs, Sodium, sweeteners and so on?
If the addition of BCAAs, for example, would cost the real content of protein (much less than 25 g protein), should it be considered as a kind of false advertising?

The BCAAs naturally occurring in whey, if using an isolate (see OP), it's not difficult to get 25g of P from a 31g serving size.

More whey win: Study found improvements in bodycomp, and fat loss in the all important trunk area:

The Association Between Whey Protein, Regional Fat Mass and Strength in Resistance-Trained Men: A Cross-Sectional Study

Applied Physiology, Nutrition, and Metabolism, https://doi.org/10.1139/apnm-2018-0143

    Abstract

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the association between whey protein supplementation, body composition and muscle strength, in resistance-trained individuals. Forty-nine healthy males, aged 18 to 35 years that were engaged in resistance training for at least one year, were assigned into two groups according to whey protein intake (Whey: n=26, 30.7 ± 7.4 yr, 75.8 ± 9.0 kg; Without Whey: n=23, 31.0 ± 7.4 yr, 77.9 ± 9.3 kg).

Using a cross-sectional design, a morning assessment of body fat mass (FM) (by dual energy X-ray absorptiometry) and strength (using 1RM for bench press and back squat) was performed. Nutritional assessment was performed by 3-day food records. Regarding nutritional habits, differences between total energy intake (kcal) and estimated energy requirements (kcal) were observed.

    Results, from both raw data or controlling for energy intake, estimated energy requirements or achieved percentage of energy requirements, showed that whey protein supplementation was inversely correlated with whole-body FM (R=-0.367 (p=0.010); R=-0.317 (p=0.049); R=-0.380 (p=0.011); R=-0.321 (p=0.047), respectively), trunk FM (R=-0.396 (p=0.005), R=-0.367 (p=0.022), R=-0.423 (p=0.004), R=-0.369 (p=0.021), respectively) and android FM (R=-0.381 (p=0.007), R=-0.332 (p=0.039), R=-0.383 (p=0.010), R=-0.336 (p=0.036), respectively).

No correlations were found between muscle strength outcomes and whey protein supplementation. The present data suggests that whey protein ingestion has a positive association with whole-body and regional (trunk and android) FM.

    Harvard Will,

Everyone knows that milk does a body good. It is probably the single best food to go with eggs or blood, if you could choose only 2 things to eat.

But, did you know that it could possibly deliver epigenetic microRNAs in vivo?

Probably not, sinse you have only been here since 2002.

I did not know that! Very interesting and novel concept. What clinical utility? Maybe use milk exosomes to deliver something beneficial to target tissues? What impact these milk exosomes with their existing package seems worthy of further study.

That paper is speculative, even for me, though I think he is saying that milk basically was designed by God to deliver the good stuff, plus also hinting that it could be used for targeted delivery.

I mix 1/4 cup Walnuts, 1/4 cup Oatmeal, 1/4 cup blueberries, 1/4 cup raspberries w 2.5g creatine (creapure) 1g Beta-Alanine and 2tbsp of whey protein, 2tbsp ground flaxseed for a morning smoothie w banana; plenty of healthy (Omega 3) fats, fiber (soluble!!), micronutrients, etc.
Rinse, repeat that smoothie later in the day to get at least 5g every day of creatine (and total 4tbsp of whey for the day - minimum).
    Mix it all up bruh!!

    Supplements to consider:
Whey, Creatine, Beta-Alanine, Fish Oil (and/or other Omega 3 sources such as ground flaxseed), Vitamin D3 ... possibly some trace minerals like zinc & magnesium (consider ZMA or look for 'trace mineral' supplements)

FYI, Fish oil and flax oil are not equivalent and the conversion of LNA -> EPA/DHA is poor.

    whey and hypoglycaemia

Can i take whey protein powder if i am hypoglycemic? Im worried about the added sugars spiking my insulin and I'm worried about what whey protein powder will do to my blood sugar since I'm used to getting my protein from things like eggs and meat and i don't eat many carbs.

What added sugars? Use a brand with no added sugars, and track what effects it has on your blood sugar. That's the best way to know what effects it has on your particular blood sugar issues. Some studies suggest whey can improve glucose metabolism.

Lately I have been seeing a lot of information on the pros of a blended protein consisting of whey, caesin and sometimes egg protein. I was wondering if this was the same as me mixing carbmaster milk, with whey protein powder post workout followed by a mixture of scrambled eggs and egg whites.
