"gaming" chair like DXRacer vs office chair

My current computer chair is on its last breath, so I'm looking to pick something up over the holidays. I see a lot of people rocking those gaming chairs like DXRacer - are they legit, or just marketing gimmicks? I've always used office type chairs but those gaming ones did catch my eye.....

Steelcase or Herman Miller, any other chair is wasting money.

I have a regular leather office chair with a high back and it's lasted me years and is incredibly comfortable. "Gaming" chairs are 100% gimmick and it's laughable that people pay $600 for a chair when a $150 leather office chair is (imo) more comfortable.

Don't get a gaming chair. Buy a real task chair. They are high quality and made to last 10 years. Like the other poster said look into Herman Miller or Steelcase.

I bought a Herman Miller Embody last year and it was worth every penny. If you are strapped for cash you can buy used/restored ones for 1/3 of the price and it will still be better than those gaming chairs.

As much as I want a Herman Miller chair... 1000 for a damn office chair is just ridiculous and yes before you ask I've used one before. For 3 months and while it was comfortable and nice looking. I felt like it was hardly a diffrence overall between that and a high quality computer chair on Amazon.

    I just can't justify spending 1000....on a chair...

I bought this one for about $140 and it's held up great for 2 years:

    https://www.staples.com/staples-hyke...product_990119

The headrest fits me perfectly and the chair overall has great support. It could use more tilt settings (there's only 3: straight up, slightly reclined, and lay-z-boy) but for the price it's solid. If you're obese or over maybe 6'3'' it might not be as comfortable for you.

You might want to invest in one with more tilt settings though, including the angle of the actual seat, not just the backrest.

Seems like the go chairs for offices who shell out for good chairs is the Aeron by Herman Miller.

The $1000 price tag didn't trick my brain into loving it... not a fan.

I have a dx racer. Love it but I wouldn't buy a second one. Depends on the look you want for your setup. I'm a man child with marvel toys and RGB lights all over my pc setup and room so naturally I needed the dx gaming chair to complete the setup

Bought some cheap office chair from staples on sale for ~$90 a few years ago and it's held up fine and is plenty comfortable. Can't see myself spending $300 for a dx racer or $$$ for a high end office chair.

Laz-e-boy makes a line of office chairs that are comparable to DXracers in price that are super comfy, well made.

I dropped decent money on a Steelcase Gesture, zero ragrats. I tried out pretty much every chair Herman Miller and Steelcase offered at the time -- only wish my work invested in chairs like this

Also have a matching filing cabinet

i got an 'office chair' for like 60 bucks. its very sturdy, adjustably reclines, adjustable arm rests, adjustable back incline. its fabric but extremely comfortable. idk what these racer chairs could do better...

There's a gaming cafe by one of the colleges I live near and they have a bunch of the DXRacer chairs and they are comfy af. Played in a 5 hour Rocket League tourney and had no issues with them, even fit my lanky ass buddy who's like 6'5"

Not sure what's 'gimicky' about them, they are comfortable. Not sure I'd spend $1000 on an office chair when the DX's are a 1/3rd the price on sale.

Because there's nothing really fancy about them to justify their cost. They slap the term "gaming" on it and charge a premium and a bunch of Twitch kids buy them up because they see Dr. Disrespect or whoever using it. I just hate the whole "gaming" marketing thing, it was silly 10 years ago and it's silly today.

That's just marketing tho. The chairs really are solid quality and ergonomic. I used to get back pains and alot of discomfort after long gaming sessions and now I sit in my dx all day no issues.

Sure they tack on a bit of price... But you gunna sit here and act like a 1000 dollar chair is better just cause it's not marketed for gamers? Now those are some chairs that don't justify cost. Triple digits on a desk chair... ****ing lol. My chair reclines back like a ****in bed if I want it to.

Again both chairs are fine but ya can't knock dx racers cause of their marketing. The chairs are legit quality and comfort. And this is coming from a guy who had the worst experience with her customer service and doesn't even recommend them to people.
Yes... come and let us make an end of it. It matters not, even cornered, to my last breath... I remain who and what I am. I will not hide, nor tremble, nor beg. Let them come and reckon with fury that is DOOM defiant.

The first several posts mention $1000 office chairs. DX's are a bargain compared to those. I'd go with a DX every time. Could you recommend a chair that's not $1000, but is on par with a DX for a cheaper price?

I've sat in DX Racers before and I never found them to be anything special, but that's just my opinion. My $150 leather office chair from Costco feels just as comfortable to me as the DX Racer does and doesn't look tacky as hell. The ergonomic office chairs that they put into one of the new buildings at the hospital I work at are insanely more comfortable and have fantastic lumbar support, however I have no idea how much those cost.

As I said, it's a matter of preference, that's all. Some people may like the l337 g@m3r style of DX Racers for their price tag, others may not. At the end of the day it's a chair, get what you feel is the most comfortable.

The 150 dollar Costco chair is the exact one I gave up for a dx racer. That chair is straight garbage in comparison in pretty much every category possible.tbh if that's what you sit in and think it's good you probably have no business itt giving any opinions

Because every $150 chair in Costco is the same across the world? And me liking a certain chair that you don't like makes my opinion invalid? Strong ANTIFA logic there LuL. They also like telling people their opinions aren't valid because they don't agree with them.

IMO you should calm down a little there sport, it's a thread discussing chairs, not a heated debate at the U.N. Security Council, no need for such anger.
