Who else loves outdated, grungy, old school gyms? I'm home for break and don't have a membership in town, so I've been bouncing around to the local gyms just to get out of the feel of commercial gyms, and I've gotta say I love the retro, raw environment that old school gyms offer. Iron plates, iron dumbbells, loud music and dedicated people.

Commercial gym I'm at has the older plates and the equipment is a little older. I like the old hammer strength equipment. Just wish the dumbbells were the iron ones and not the plastic ones. Beats the ribber plates and new machines at the Anytime Fitness I lifted at for years.

My dinner always consists of sweet potato's or rice (sweet potato's more so lately, rice for lunch), and I had about 230g sweet potato last night around 8pm. Felt great this morning!
Cream of rice sounds good for pre-workout. I literally can't find any in local stores though.

Only 2 placed locally sell it. Frustrating having to grocery shop at more than one store. If I didn't have it locally, I'd order online without question. By far the easiest food that sits in my stomach and in a large amount. When bulking I usually have cereal post workout but this coming bulk I might change it around and just load up on cereal of rice post workout instead for 100+ carbs.

I love the old school gym's as well. That's why I love training at Atilis Gym down in Wildwood, NJ every time I am down that way in the summer (I try to get down just about every single weekend).

Short cuts to success are often paved with lies.
1/13/16: Massive hernia.
5/10/16: Finally back to lifting, light but improving.

Hope you like em man! I've been enjoying mine so far and they seem to be holding up really well.
Sounds like everyone's been having some great sessions over the holidays. I just got back from a deload this week. I always find the first week back after a real deload is tough. The heavy 5's wears me out. I can handle heavy singles, doubles or triples a lot easier, but the 5's week tears me down. Did some box jumps today in between sets of box squats.....was ready to puke.Squat and Deadlift

+1 for the old school gyms. I know I complain a lot about my commercial gym, but the New Years rush has already started and i'm hating on it hard right now. Could barely move during my bench session yesterday.

Chocolate crunch SinFit is as decadent as they come. Like a crunchy rich brownie with a chocolate coating. Peanut and Cinnamon up next.

Different taste and takes longer to digest. Not a fan. It's seriously worth buying online even if it's a couple bucks more than priced in stores. White rice and cream of rice are my go-to's preworkout. It was oatmeal, but man that can sit heavy in the stomach. Oatmeal is better when training 2-3 hours later.
Going to jump on the rice crispy treat train when calories get high during this next bulk. I hear they are fantastic pre workout.
That has been my favorite so far. I think I still have cinnamon left.Progressive overload + progressive eating = gains. Simple as that!

Gotta love it. Old newspaper articles from the area all over the walls, trophies from powerlifting meets, pictures of competitors future/past on the walls. Gym was built the year I was born (1995), so it’s not super “old school” per say, but it’s on that definitely catch you off guard when you walk in. I also noticed today that people are rarely on their phones while in here and few are listening to their own music.

Being locked out the house on Christmas gave me a wicked cold. I might get fried chicken to be honest
