    All progress, especially at our age, is great. I keep hearing we're lucky to retain what we have, let alone make gains, but I'm doing the best ever. Go figure. Congrats on the 5-rep PR. IMO, rep volume/tonnage is a much better indicator for progress and brings the gains. Unless of course you just want to be a 1RM monster.

    So is that program truly boring, and are you at least getting bigger?

    I keep hearing the same thing. I'm stronger at 40 than I ever have been. I agree with you on the Volume/Tonnage PR stuff. 1RM are fun, but I enjoy hitting a 3- or 5-rep PR much more.

    It is boring at times. Honestly, it's the name Wendler has given to it. I'm getting stronger for sure and thicker. Bigger is questionable, but I'm putting muscle mass on and dropping BF just by lifting. Look better at 40 than I did at 25...at least that's what the wife says.

    Then that counts! Getting (muscles) bigger, not just overall mass. Otherwise it's buffets every day and caution to the wind, haha. I'm with you, better than ever. Great to see us still hitting it and enjoying the benefits after all these years.

    Forgot my belt, but 145x5 felt really good. I think scaling back and working on my form is actually helping move the strength up without sacrificing form. Slow and steady.
