Why do all these ifbb pros all have such bro diets?

If u watch any ifbb pros diets most of them consists of lot of veggies, meats and basically just a lot of "clean" foods. Why would they eat like this lol. Don't they know that there's no such thing as clean or junk foods?

It's not about enjoying the food, they have a plan and schedule for eating, they aren't playing LoL while eating 'junk' food, lifting 3 times a week, op. Can't help, if it's hard for you to understand.

Junk food is full of useless oils, chemicals and what not. It's not gonna help your body in any way but only going to hurt you in long run with various diseases.

Many IFBB pros don't eat clean. There are videos of Dorian Yates saying he eats chocolate bars when he's cutting, Ronnie Coleman eating french fries etc.

I don't personally believe everything I read on the internet or see in PR videos regarding bodybuilding, or much of anything else for that matter.

Pro Bodybuilders who eat "junk" food:

    CALUM VON MOGER

    Phil Heath

    Marcus Ruhl

    Lee Priest

    Jay Cutler

    Chris Bumstead

Of course, all of this changes during contest prep; to get down to the usual competition-ready 5% body fat level requires super-human dedication and attention to the most minute of nutritional details.

    ETA:

None of the foods in the above pics are what I would consider to be "junk" foods, but rather are examples of what joe public would consider to be as such. Quite the contrary; everything in those pics has at least some nutrition value, and as far as the burgers and fries are concerned, by any other name, or their component parts scattered out on a plate, would be considered to be good bodybuilding foods.

They probably don't even look at it like you describe (i.e. clean/junk)
Some people have large appetites, including ifbb pros. Look at them, their solid houses of muscle. Eating pop tarts and refined foods everyday is not going to work for them.
Eating whole foods helps with satiety.
What's wrong with eating veggies, rice, and meats/chicken?
As someone else posted, you clearly see their cheat days (i.e. videos above). But lol if you think they eat like that every day or even 3-4 days a week.
The only thing in the video they're probably not showing you is the pint of B&J or the cookies here and there they'll have throughout the week.

I know a couple of ifbb pros personally (not saying olympia level) and most of them eat "clean" year round

Cheat once or twice a week in the off season and that's about it

They put alot of other unmentionable things in their system we're not allowed to discuss on here so to try and offset the health risks associated with that aspect of pro bodybuilding a healthier nutrient filled diet is a must

    This.

Apart from usually being on a calorie deficit ( and working out hard) and preferring much more satiating and filling food, they choose more bland food to protect their image of sacrifice and dedication

Try to show some idiot people a pro bodybuilder eating a cheeseburger with fries everyday, and explain them they don't gain a ****ton of fat immediately after lol
I still notice billions of people who believe is what you eat, rather than how much, that makes gain you fat, it's a die hard myth

    Exactly this

It's like the mechanism of iifym people on Instagram, but inverted

They post only appealing good, avoiding some bro food they eat on a regular basis, the pros only bland food and avoid posting the occasional candy bar, ice cream etc

I know many now at NPC level and absolutely all of them eat a typical bro diet. I can't even mention "clean" , "dirty" etc for discussion. They do however, on occasion, eat non bro items.

Some IFBB Pros I knew in Venice were the same way.

Many who you think eat a "bro" diet all the time do not always eat like that, but that's what they put out there so that you think they do.

Many believe that they'll get better results eating a "bro" diet rather than one that's slightly more flexible with similar overall nutrient composition.

Many don't count macros/calories and by eating the same simple "bro" foods every day they can just change portion sizes to gain/lose weight at the rate they want (i.e. it's easier to manage when not counting macros).

Many eat a "bro" diet so as not to compound the unhealthy compounds they're putting into their system with an unhealthy diet.

Many think they eat "clean" yet consume a pound of processed supplements on the daily. That's always funny to see.

It works. Kind of like an old wives tail that has been passed down from bro to bro. It's not a coincidences that bro diets are whole food diets. Even if fairly restrictive and not eating much more than chicken potatoes and brocc0li. When you are eating 4,000 kcals there isn't a lot of micro nutrient deficiencies. You don't have to worry about weird food additives and things that might cause digestive problems or other issues. It's convenient. When you are eating every few hours it isn't reasonable to be eating gourmet food all the time.

I remember seeing a YouTube vid of Jay Cutler saying he really couldn't eat much complex carbs because it made him too full in between meals and he felt they "didn't work fast enough" for his body.

That makes sense to me. If you are going to eat a ton of calories and need to digest them quickly, then eating low-fat/low-fiber meals that are spaced out is going to be beneficial for this purpose.

It doesn't matter what they eat, the amount of calories they need would constitute a full time job for me.

Have you ever looked at some of the labels on the supplements that these guys guzzle on a daily basis? Talk about additives...that stuff is the definition of processed junk with a bunch more junk added.

Jay's a good bodybuilder and businessman, but it sounds like he's not much of a nutrition expert. Simple carbs are sugar. The rice and potatoes he was eating around the clock are actually all complex, slower digesting carbohydrates, otherwise known as starch.

Oh, I didn't know what he was actually eating. Thanks for clarifying that.

I can just tell you what I witness in my own house. My husband is cut and stays that way year-round. He eats donuts and bagels and junk, but it makes up maybe 20% of his diet, probably less. He trains like a motherf*&cker.

Dinner in my house last week- turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce (made with 2 cups of sugar), he would have biscotti I made him...he does weigh out what he eats and I bet he's eating under what he needs, he is 5'10.5" and 165-170 lbs and eat like 2000 calories.

I can only eat the protein and vegetables, not the other junk, but I eat 1500 calories a day and am female and weigh a heck of a lot less than him.

Certain types of white rice and potatoes can actually have a GI of ~100. I'd say the label fast digesting is appropriate.
