After I do a set of Romanian deadlifts, I feel moderate pain in my back for a few seconds, then it goes away. But the next day i feel it all day. I always keep my hips back and I use a hook grip. Could I have pain due to the bar not touching my legs the whole way down, or is it because I am not lifting it from the rack right? I lift it from the rack using my arms, and then I bend my legs and use them to push the bar off the rack.

As mentioned, are you sure you are performing the Romanian dead-lift and not the stiff-legged dead-lift?
Many people get them mixed up. Romanian means ensuring back is straight at all times of movement. Bar should be in contact with thighs throughout move. Hips go back. Stop before back rounds.
Stiff-legged allows bar to travel further out and the back should round. This is why unlike the Romanian, lighter weights should be used.
Stiff legged is meant to target lower back which is reason for light weight.Love to train.... hate gyms!
