"Thought it was high time I trimmed a couple first floor joists so I could do jerks with my cleans."

Nicely done! I actually did the same thing in my old stand alone garage with an angled (15 degree slope, not up to code) roof. It was a shade under 8' tall where I was jerking, which didn't quite give me enough room, so I just removed an entire horizontal lateral support joist at about 6.5' height (see photo; joist was identical to the joist with the saws, but further back, about where you see the white board is), and then cut away a few inches off a large 8x joist (painted white) supporting the roof. That joist was actually attached to a broken 4x4 (you can't see) a previous owner had repaired when the roof collapsed.

I bolted the top of my power rack to it, and man was that power rack stable! It also probably served as a "support wall" for the roof haha! He also added several other 2x4s spanning the roof between the original 4x4s (not painted). What's the worst that can happen right?? haha. I tend to be lucky. Also, I planned to demolish the garage anyway, though I never ended up getting around to it.

Anyway probably sounds worse than it is. The important thing is the roof wasn't supporting anything above it. It has been fine in the 15 years since I made the mods, and I sold the house recently, so I guess I got away with it

Looks sweet. I really like belt squats, I'd do whatever I could to fit one. A shame so many go the "wide" route on them, makes them a tough piece to fit. I have one of Mech's leverage units that I fold up into the back of my rack. It's about 95% of the platform/pulley systems I've used. Very useful piece as a very functional/good carry over secondary movement that doesn't mega load you (ie doing belt squats after heavy deadlifts is very realistic whereas doing back squats...herculean effort and motivation required).

I’m repainting everything that was yellow to orange . Tremclad has a very tough finish with their Real Orange spray bombs .
Just got around to doing my flat bench . The yellow it comes with is sort of a mustard colour , and probably the worst shade of yellow that I’ve seen . Kind of regret not ordering in black after it showed up .
But the orange turned out really well imo

Hey, Home gym is always the best and if you are planning for it you need to have some equipment. Treadmills, exercise bikes, Dumbbells, Resistance bands, Rowing machine.
You can easily start your home gym with them. All the best.

WOW...WOW....OMG! Ive fallen in love with this set up and so jealous of you..
Sorry if any trouble but do you mind giving me some tips please as currently I am in process of setting up my so-called very small home gym in my Garage. First thing i am looking for some tips/techniques how to move all my Barbells from current floor Barbell stand to wall mount ideas and I am really impressed with your set up using those slate walls.
I am located in Toronto/Canada & do you know if those slate walls can be cut or customized to what I want & where exactly you buy those hardware to mount those barbells?
And, will those slat walls hold all my 4 barbells - totally weighing atleast 75 kgs?
Again HATS-OFF to your amazing set up....Inspiring....20210713_090654.jpg

Been a while since updating with any pictures. Every year I add more stuff and this is the start of my summer adds. Not sure last time I updated, but if anyone has any questions on stuff in the background, ask.

End of last year I started a thread about cheap plates vs good ones and finally upgraded my plates. I actually have 1,000lbs of Rogue Deep Dish plates on the way to replace a lot of the ones on the machines and I'll sell of the extra plates. The calibrated Rogues are nice in that I know I'm lifting what it says. I will say the quality was no where near what I expected. They ended up refunding ~12% of the purchase price not only because they were badly chipped up, but because the paint was really inconsistent and it looked like they repainted some or spilled the finish coat on them. After I took the refund, I had ordered another set of 10s and they came in looking so much better. Sort of regret taking the refund because the quality isn't there. I understand UPS banging them up along the way, but they doesn't explain the finish issues. But, at the end of the day, these look way nicer and love the feel of having something nice that gets used. The new Ohio Bar is a huge improvement over a 6+ yr old Cap Barbell

The fatbells are a nice add-on and the weight just feels different. I purposely got weights where the Powerblocks take a bit longer to get to the right weight (removing the adder) to drop sets more quickly.

Last thing I did in these is moved the rack 9" further from the cable attachment wall. I couldn't really squeeze behind to get to the storage pegs where it had been at. Moving it any further over would have impacted the cable machine.

I've got quite a bit more either on the way or delivered. I'll upload that stuff at some point later.

    Embedded pics for you.

Good use of space for all the equipment you have.

Again HATS-OFF to your amazing set up....Inspiring....Attachment 9349823
I’m using the heavy duty StoreWall slot wall , and although it’s fairly strong, if you slipped as you placed a 45 pound bar on it , it could potentially have a blow out.
I would use a proper gun rack for them .

You could easily implement my gas pipe idea though , and it would handle large bars with ease.
Here’s an earlier pic b4 I changed to StoreWall . I used 2/6 wood on all my home made racks . The checker plate one cold be designed as wide as you like to accommodate bar bells .

Floor flanges are readily available , but the heat shrink I used to cover the 1” gas line is proprietary. It’s used in the cable industry, but you could come up with your own ideas .
Originally I was going to weld those round end caps you can buy for the end of the pipe , but welding skills are not there yet.
Here’s another pic to give you an idea . If you had an open wall ,you could add supports between the studs to support the flanges that the pipe attaches to

I only bought that Rack you see in pics from Gear Fit which allows me to do Bench press & Squat as well raising those extensions. For now, spent my money only on that Inspire Fitness FTX functional trainer, Bench, Rack, Adjustable dumbbells & those barbells in pics. Not sure if its worth spending on a Leg press machine unless you guys says yes

I have one and find it’s too narrow . I would look at other options imo , but maybe it won’t bother you depending on your technique.

I purchased two benches from Bells of Steel located in Calgary Alberta.
I have no idea where you reside though. Their flat bench is awesome , but their incline /decline bench could use a little work , as it’s first angle up is too steep at 22.5 degrees imo for heavy incline benching .
Works awesome for overhead dumbbell presses though ,as it’s stable as a rock .
The IronMaster is further back in the pic , and set to its first incline settings .
The bells of steel incline/decline bench is the first one in the pic and set on its first setting ,
I use a 2/4 underneath the front to raise it in order to decrease the angle

I already have a Northern Light FID but its too tall 21" from floor & hence pulled my trigger on this. I am not a well built person. Height is 173 cms & normal built so do you think it will fit me? I was more interested in their accessories including Dip bar, etc. & light weight and short height assuming it suits me perfectly to use my FTX trainer when doing cable rows, etc.
Does this BOS bench come with Leg attachments as its a must for me?
Yes, i have already bought Swiss bar from BOS which I am really impressed though.

No attachments that I’m aware of . I’m the same height as you,so you want a low bench.
21” is way too tall for me, especially when using dumbbells, and IronMaster is 20” .
I prefer 17” . Guys 6’3 tall would probably want a taller bench such as the IronMaster though .
I don’t care for their seat attachment for seated incline on the IronMaster,as it feels pretty flimsy

The hybrid pad for the Ironmaster potentially solves this, though I have a 12" wide Rep FB5000 flat bench plus Ironmaster Pro for incline and decline and haven't bothered with the hybrid pad.
