Indeed. My original space was 1/4 that square area. Then it was 1/2 of it. Then it was all of it. Then my wife got into the home gym idea, but wanted some cardio equipment so I expanded it a little more. Then I figured since it spilled over in that area anyway, I might as well add a few more machines. At this point I can fit 1-2 more machines (and I already have a Nautilus pullover project machine that I need to refurb when I find the time). After that I'll have to start swapping stuff out if I get new equipment.

I put the Hybrid pad on the Ironmaster Super Bench Pro the opposite way it's normally shown (in theory I wanted to be able to get more shoulder support on both flat and incline DB bench positions with it, though I could also see the value of it being flipped the opposite way on other movements as well).
Next time I do incline DB pressing I'll see how my ROM feels with it and determine how I permanently want it on from there, here's a pic of the bench with the Hybrid pad and decline/sit up attachment on it...

Hi All. I started lifting 6 months ago and slowly built my gym. It started as simply the bench and a set of dumbells with about 60kg of weights for them. I added the full rack and barbells about 3 months ago and got the chest and leg extension machine 2 months ago. I'm really pleased with so far. I still need to paint the main brick wall and improve the lighting.
The big question is what machines would you guys add next? I've got a reasonable amount of room, and the cross trainer is moving indoors anyway once the Xmas tree is taken back down. I plan on getting a full rack of dumbells as adjustable ones are just a pain.
I'm not in a big rush to get new equipment as I'm following the Fierce 5 routine which is bringing great progress still, but I'm sure in 3-6 months time I will want to start changing it up due to stalling and having got past the first year of beginner gains.
So what would be your suggestions for additions?
Thanks

That has to be one of the most badass looking basement gyms I've seen on here (the brick wall background and slightly dim lighting reminds me of something from an 80s street film, I could almost picture it with graffiti on the walls lol) and as you add to it and/or upgrade more and more the more rad it's gonna look.
Assuming you have the basics covered (which it sounds like because you're running Fierce 5) I would suggest perhaps either the Inspire FTX functional trainer for some additional dual cable variety and it's priced cheaper than the FT1 model, a leverage belt squat (Edge Fitness Systems version comes to mind), or a leverage system, or seated leverage mid row machine...to name a few from a variety stand point.
One thing to keep in mind though is that even after you run the program, progress and start stalling, barbell compounds will likely and should continue to be your base to improve upon for best results, the machines are mainly to add some fun variety at the end as opposed to replacing main movements (not to sound too dogmatic lol as you can lift however you want, but I see people on here sometimes that get too caught up on replacing compound barbell movements just because they have machines and are looking for an excuse to program them).
At the end of a full body routine, strategically placed in along with the barbell movements on an upper/lower type of split, or due to injuries, or aging joint problems having to use them as main movements is reasonable.Last edited by Deep-Voiced-One; 12-29-2020 at 07:54 AM.

My rgb LEDs don’t do orange well, as they look more like a putrid yellow , so I mostly have it set to red till I get the dedicated orange leds installed .
Thought I’d try the planet fitness look today and see how purple looks . Debating to buy an LED controller that’s got three knobs so you can fade the colours more accurately before installing some dedicated orange leds , as I like to be able to change the colour once in a while

That is a freakin' sweet setup!!!! I love the rgb LED light around the mirror! I've been trying to figure out how I can add in a series of light bulbs to the top pullup bar of my squat rack....total 50's-60's amusement park type lighting. Or backstage vanity mirror look. I might have to use a string of those LED's though instead. Very cool theme to your gym!

Thanks. I'll look into it. I actually bought some LED rope lights years back for some custom picture frames I made for my gym, but they are more like the style of LED lights that you see on the floor at movie theaters (rather large).
They worked great at first, but 6-12 months in, they started giving me connection issues and cutting out. They sit stationary, there are NO moving parts, and the connector design is as complicated as a peanut butter sandwich! I've tweaked the connectors around, cleaned the terminals, cut the light strip shorter to make a fresh connection (etc), and they STILL don't work most of the time. <SIGH>
I haven't come up with a decent solution to remedy the issue yet, but I will. I kind of built the wood frames specifically around these particular rope lights, so I'm stuck with them now. At least they looked cool for awhile. I'll probably get a similar style to the ones you have for my future projects. Sorry if I've posted these before.

downgraded from garage with tons of space to super small indoor den space as a temporary 1 or 2 year setup. Ordered a shorty rackable barbell, new bench, and waiting for my Rogue Monster squat rack SM-1 with spotter arms. Afterwards will see if my ironmaster stand fits in the space or not. The rest is coming from my garage where I still have a half rack to disassemble and decide to sell or keep for future. My guess is to sell and eventually get a bigger space than before and get a full size rack and keep squat rack to have two stations for working out. Keeping all my full size barbells and SSB for future.

Gym walk thru
Finally made a walk thru video. I finished fixing a hole in the wall so it got pretty dusty, better after mopping. Missed some on the flat bench.
