Great looking gym, really like the lighting. I hadn't really looked at the Inspire FT2 very closely before but i went and watched the promotional video after seeing it in your gym and it looks like a pretty sweet piece of equipment, how do you like it so far?

For me..it is the one piece I will never sell. I’m pushing 60 years old so it be something I could always be able to use. Very versatile unit.

Some really nice home gyms in this thread. I will take some pics and/or a vid this weekend of my setup.

It's essentially the same as the FT1 recommended to you in the other thread, but it adds a Smith machine. The Inspire units aren't as stout as full commercial units, but they're very smooth and a great value for the money.

Yeah, I had looked at the FT1 but I was thinking in terms of a net addition so it didn't seem that great given what I already have. The FT2 adds a smith which is a pretty awesome use of space, in addition they have a pretty cool bench that also doubles as a leg curl / extension using cables or plates. Now I'm wondering if I should swap out my hi/low tower which would make it much better use of space than just adding a piece. Some quick measurements suggests it would fit with some very minor reorganizing. As others have mentioned, this is a very dangerous thread for your wallet. I'm not sure I can justify the expense right now, but it's something to think about.

Dude. My wallet broke the day I discovered lifting and isn’t ever going to get fixed.

As for the FT2, I’m quite happy with it. Bought it for the wife and planned to use it mostly for accessory work like tricep push downs and such, but I find it’s become an integral part of my routine. Even the smith bar, which I use for things like split legged squats or hip thrusters or whatnot. I will say that I’ve replaced a lot of the handles and such on it with non-OEM stuff (mostly Watson), and it’s clear to me that the cables WILL need to be replaced after two years as the manual says, but it all works pretty well and I’m very happy with the purchase. Hadn’t really planned to have leg extensions / curls in my gym, but glad I do. Just be sure to get the extra weight stack - adds 50lbs to the total (smith bar has a nifty, incredibly simple weight doubling function, which helps).

To everyone else with the positive feedback, thanks! It’s definitely my refuge now. Aside from the mirrors, I built it all myself, and it was an exercise of love. Now I go in there and I never. Want. To. Leave.

We all have should have our heads examined when it comes to this addiction ! But it is way too much fun to stop. I just bought a Rogue Rhino belt squat and I thought I would need a shoehorn to fit it in my space . I’m officially done as I have run out of room( at least I hope so)

As far as the FT2, I found the biggest advantage over some others was not the Smith bar( which I do find a lot of use for) but the multiple pull points at the top and bottom. A lot of variety and you can switch pull points without moving anything. Grabbed more attachment handles and just leave them attached at all the pull points. I love the FT2

Looks good to me. You should be able to do everything you need to get a great workout. Sure, more toys are nice but as long as you have bench, bar, plates & rack you're off to a great start.

Great video and nice setup. Cool the have your wife into it too. Really nice that you've been able to get a lot of that during Covid as well. Worst time ever to build a home gym and most needed time as well (all related of course).

I had a pair of the original DooWins that Glenn imported from China back in the day (replaced some now vintage collectible Adidas). Wood heel was so high I had to have them shaved down a good amount.

I was going to toss it. Then I realized it would make a good sehlf for all the accessories so I rescued it. It's worked out well.

Car mats I dunno I've had them for years, I think I bought an aftermarket set of mats for one or more of my Chargers many years ago and they came with the rear mats that I didn't need to replace because only the fronts were worn out.

I had a pair of the original DooWins that Glenn imported from China back in the day (replaced some now vintage collectible Adidas). Wood heel was so high I had to have them shaved down a good amount.
I have an original pair of Do-Wins as well. The ones we have now I think are just re-branded Romoleos?

And yes, getting gym stuff these days is just infuriating, which is how I ended up with a very expensive adjustable bench that I didn't really want. People are snatching up everything they can retail then selling it online for 2-3x the price. Almost everything being sold by individuals online right now is brand new in the box at 3x retail and these kunts have the balls to put in their ads "no lowballers". Fuggers.

Nice tour of your humble yet effective work space, I look forward to the Baadass adjustable DB review when everything gets squared away with those.

Sorry, just realized that I missed to answer about the lighting. Thanks! It’s nice having a basement that’s partially above ground. Actually, it’s just far enough above ground that it still qualifies as a basement - around here, you’re only allowed to have so much above-ground space given the size of a lot, so having it qualify as a basement lets me put another 50 sq m on the house.

It looks pretty good when the sunlight isn’t there, too (close to 6 months a year, since I live in Denmark ;P). I mentioned in another thread that I have a Philips Hue in the center of the room, then I use two Hue light strips to do some indirect lighting (one in the window behind the roll-down blind, the other up the back of the FT2). I can do some neat stuff with the colors, too, but I default it to white so the wife doesn’t see - she doesn’t think the colors are “classy”. ;P

We all say this at one time or another...”I’m Done” I have officially run out of room and it works. Just added the belt squat but to lose my Matrix seated calf raise.

Other than possibly upgrading my dumbells and some accessories, I’m not sure what I really need to add that’s worth getting rid of something....but, I love suggestions and nobody does it better than the forum members.

Here’s some recent shots of my Basement gym that I share with my washer/dryer

Thanks..not really brand loyalty here but I do love my Hammer Strength benches and half rack. The Rogue Rhino is an awesome machine as well. The only minor issue is loading plates on the back. The Freemotion preacher helps with this as the seat pivots 180 degrees so it gives me a clear path to behind the Rhino. The FT2 is great and probably the one thing I would never sell.

I completed my Intek Armor Series Bumper set 4x55, 4x45, 4x35, 4x25, 4x10. Along with Armor series Urethane 2x100, 6x45, 4x35, 6x25, 28x10, 8x5, 8x2.5. The high number of small plates are for my adjustable dumbbells. It took a long time to get all the plates due to Covid. Sold all of my old iron plates and Hex dumbbells. I love the Intek plates.
