At age 64, I've exceeded all my prior PRs. Not “over the hill” yet. :)

Finally getting my setup together. I picked up a new set of Troy 12 sided dumbbells this week so thought I'd post pics of my little area.

I know it saves a lot of space, but does having the DB's stored in their new location cause any problems using your bench for any exercises?

No issues at all yet, the monos swing the bar out just far enough for incline bench. With standard j cups I don't think this setup would work and safties also have to be set right cause their is no way to fit a spotter back there.

Put in a day’s work on these new lights for the home gym. Fixtures are made out of black steel plumbing parts and low cost bulb cages. All together, $150.00 for all five fixtures and nobody else has them, which I especially like. What’s next?!

    Repped back.

I liked them so much I made four more for the front part of the garage where the car and tools sit. The cool thing about them is that they actually also serve as the code-required metal enclosure where the connections to the power source are made. I also grounded each fixture by securing the ground wire to the piping for safety.

Unique, good looking, well executed, and up to code is awesome, and grounding the housing to avoid needing a junction box is clever! Are you a building contractor of some kind?

    Thanks!

I am not a contractor, I just do plenty of research and am very handy naturally.

Next up is HVAC and insulation. Big jobs. Since I know you like the exposed wood, I'll let you know I'm going to leave the main vertical posts exposed and fill insulation and wall between them. I want this place looking NICE.

Next up is HVAC and insulation. Big jobs. Since I know you like the exposed wood, I'll let you know I'm going to leave the main vertical posts exposed and fill insulation and wall between them. I want this place looking NICE.
Yeah, my wood shop is bigger than my gym, so definitely a fan. And no worries on your gym not looking nice. It's an amazing space and you've done a great job so far.

Hope it's OK to ask about construction details on this thread, because I'm curious. Insulation is obviously a good thing since Minnesota gets both cold and hot, and I'm wondering a little about your insulation plan. With metal walls, do you have to worry about condensation issues if you install fiberglass, rock wool, or cellulose without a moisture barrier?

Also, is your roof glass or plastic, or is it just the lighting in the picture that makes it look translucent?

Just placed my order for a belt squat machine with Beast Metals Strength & Conditioning Equipment!

Great customer service from Ralph, custom coloring, and a price that can't be beat! I went with neon green and dark grey to make it pop in the gym.

I'm looking forward to putting this machine to good use for myself and anyone else that gets a lift in at the GST Home Base.

I'll be talking with Morton about this. From what I know, they put a vapor barrier between the insulation and the inside wall, but not between the insulation and the outside wall.

The roof is steel, just like the siding.

I also grounded each fixture by securing the ground wire to the piping for safety.
You've done a great job with the lights, the gym is really looking good. Repped.

Went to rep you, but I guess I already did in the recent past. Thanks for the compliment.

Hello from South Carolina, I just upgraded my Dick's Sporting goods half rack, bench and bar after doing a lot of online research. My Gym also doubles as a guest room / Man cave and being that it is 100+ in the summer I decided not to setup in my garage.

I now have a Titan X3 flatfoot rack, Titan flat bench and have a FringeSport Wonderbar arriving today. Looking forward to using the new equipment with my son as soon as our house guests return home after this Hurricane passes. Just have to decide on a FID bench now.

Very nice. Just remember not to sit on the couch with your sweaty shirt when you're done lifting. My wife has told me that's a no no!

Also, who made the back extension bench? I like the design.
