Has anyone else seen this yet? Apparently it just came out today. If posted in the wrong section please move.
Seems some of the content on here that was free will now cost 8.99 a month *or 89 a year* to access.
So for those half way through a program they'll get cut off unless you pay the new fee. Also some of new content now can't be viewed unless you pay this fee too.
Apparently they will release "some" free stuff, but the "Premium" ones will be pay to see only.
This is all just information I obtained from a bb.com employee. If any of this is wrong feel free to clarify.
Thoughts?

For people who have experience in the gym, yeah it's easy to find a free program or even make one yourself. A lot of people just getting in to fitness/lifting/etc. need guidance and that's what those programs did. Kept them accountable and "coached" them. I think the thing most people are pissed off about is that there was no warning or heads up about this All Access thing. I've been reading that a bunch of people were halfway or almost done with the programs and then all the sudden access is gone. I'm sure you can see the frustration in that.

Well the programs were all pretty bad. So it was just doing everyone a favor. Now most of these people have come ranting to this forum. The smart ones would leave with one of the free programs that actually work and are for beginners and the other not so smart ones will go ahead and pay the membership fees.

Only BB.com program I actually have used and like was Norton's PH3, was actually just starting another training cycle with it when this 8.99/month nonsense started. Found a free excel file to download in about 2 mins on Google. I imagine the same goes for any other program on the main site.

Other than the fact that there should have been some advance notice of this, I fail to see the issue. Nobody pays any attention to the stuff posted on that side of this website; any such program or nutrition advice from there gets routinely panned in the forums, and for good reason. The forums are where the truth is found, posted by the forum regulars.
No brain, no gain.

They mostly benefit out of this in my opinion.
Due to their advertisement methods people are going to be convinced into paying for the routines. Once they buy a routine they are likely to follow it more religiously meaning buying every single supp the program recommends, so more supplement being bought.
I don't really see a downfall of this tactic on there supplement business which seems to be the main source of income.Texas Method Log *https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=173755621*

If people want to pay for what would have taken 20 minutes of research to figure out, let them. BB is a business, of course they'll try to find ways to make money. Just don't be one of those people that pay for things that are readily available two clicks away.

I've used several of their workouts until I became comfortable enough to tailor one to my liking, and still refer back to certain ones.
Its just disappointing to do that to a customer base that already (myself included) ordered and reordered products from them, including supplements. It's not like they are starving. Even charging per app for a low price would have been better than the crap they pulled.
I won't order from them in the future because it's a shady practice to switch with no warning. I don't withhold these feelings about any company. Free, then pay, or bait and switch in a way deters me from doing business with companies.

Some routines focus all their investments/efforts on advertising not programming.
5/3/1 and the likes spend more on the programming and the actual product.
The matter of fact is the first case is going to reach more people and appeal to them a lot more. As most people won't bother reading a 200 page book. A picture of a shredded guy saying this is the routine and the magical supps that got me here is all they need to get them on board.Texas Method Log *https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=173755621*

The forum is free...that's all I care about. Anyone irritated by this doesn't understand the difference between the value of the forum and the value of the main site.
With that said, yeah BB.com is a business and they're gonna make money. If this flops really bad they'll repeal it. They are trying to monetize carryover from the forums. If making the apps a subscription leads to less profit than simply selling the supps in the meal plans then they'll switch back. Prior notice aside, anyone running a business would be foolish to do anything else.

Their product they can do what they like.
It makes perfect business sense, especially before new year.
The programs were mostly garbage, you can find free professionally made ones at the top of this very section.
I suggest you celebrate your freedom from being barraged to buy supplements by a routine purely designed for that and read some or all of the forum stickies5 day full body crew
