Hello, I'm new to all this and was wondering if it would be worth working out to try and build muscle mass if I cannot afford to ingest the recommended amount of protein everyday? Thanks!

There's other benefits to fitness than just hypertrophy. Supplements aren't necessary. Try and eat a lot of eggs and chicken which are typically fairly cheap.
Supplement a good diet: don't diet on supplements.

I'm a bit mystified - if you're approximately 200 pounds, the oversimplified rule of thumb is typically 1g of protein per pound of body weight.
One dozen eggs = ~$1 = 80g of protein
One pound of chicken breast = ~$3 = 100g of protein
Two scoops of whey protein concentrate = ~$2 = 50g of protein
Not the most palatable diet, but an illustration that shows protein is readily available and quite affordable if you shop around and commit to preparing your meals.NOV || Ohio Chapter || Be more, have less.
