    Want muscle, but no $$

    Hello, I'm new to all this and was wondering if it would be worth working out to try and build muscle mass if I cannot afford to ingest the recommended amount of protein everyday? Thanks!

    There's other benefits to fitness than just hypertrophy. Supplements aren't necessary. Try and eat a lot of eggs and chicken which are typically fairly cheap.
    Supplement a good diet: don't diet on supplements.

    This. There are plenty of cheaper foods that can get you where you need to in your macro nutrients. Keep in mind there is always some of the following.

    Rice
    Potatoes
    Eggs
    Chicken or Pork
    Butter for fats
    Peanut Butter
    If you not feeling the burn your not pushing hard enough.

    I'm a bit mystified - if you're approximately 200 pounds, the oversimplified rule of thumb is typically 1g of protein per pound of body weight.

    One dozen eggs = ~$1 = 80g of protein
    One pound of chicken breast = ~$3 = 100g of protein
    Two scoops of whey protein concentrate = ~$2 = 50g of protein

    Not the most palatable diet, but an illustration that shows protein is readily available and quite affordable if you shop around and commit to preparing your meals.

    Yea eggs and chicken are a huge part of my diet still and i have lost quite a bit of weight and gained quite a bit of muscle over the last 6 months.
