Wrath was the end of the glory days, bros.
I do hope then add a few of the Quality of Life ideas they implemented, such as the easier raid grouping tools (remember using summoning stones? Or warlocks? Lol). But the 5-man finder kind of killed the magic for me - brb no need to quest b/c my druid healer could insta-find 5 mans. I healed my way through Cata.
Would love to go back to BC-era and just jack people outside the dark portal for hours again. Das it...

I really hope they don't. I do not trust the judgement of modern Blizzard to make decisions like this because they plainly do not understand what made Vanilla, TBC, Wrath successful.
LFG tools and LFR tools contributed to the game's sharp decline imo. Your reputation should matter in finding groups (behaving like a pos should have consequences), you should have to be out in the world to get to places so world pvp can actually be a thing (instead of just beaming into raids/dungeons), and guilds should be near essential for raiding.

For sure, the more they tinker with it, the more PO'd people will get.
I can't imagine they'll do what vanilla servers do - 1.12 patch till infinity. It sounds like they want to recreate it precisely minus major gamebreaking bugs and server crashes.
If that means recreating every patch to the T, it'll be odd in the sense that they're basically creating imbalances they already know about, in order to follow the vanilla patch process. But it would be the preferable way.ωσяℓ∂ тяανєℓєя ȼяєω

I like all of these except the bolded ones.
I think updating some classes and specs that are underwhelming will only be a change towards a better experience for everone. They don't have to change the mechanics drastically, just tweak the numbers so that the classes/specs are more viable in performing their roll. Not all classes/specs should be equally good at something, but they shouldn't be so bad that they are dismissed entirely either.
Things like the costly respecing doesn't add much for me either, but isn't the end of the world if it stays. Adding some minor QoL changes (don't know what though, haven't played retail in years) that don't change the aspect of vanilla is welcome as well.

According to the interview with one of the devs on MMO-Champion, they want to keep it as close to classic as possible and won't be adding LFD or any other finder tools.

Fuak I really hate how stats are normalized in BG's / Arena.
I don't even care if I'm the guy getting ripped on by some PVE geared dipchit with 2 pocket heals... If you put in the time to get geared to the tits you should be able to exert your dominance on the lesser chars.

As someone who played Mists > thru Legion while playing vanilla, I don't even miss the vast majority of QoL features, especially since alot of them aren't applicable to Vanilla anyways. The main ones I would miss that ARE applicable would be faster ghost form, some flight points, and respec costs.
Me getting lost in Vanilla Thousand Needles for 2 hours with a random shaman > sitting in LFD/R/PvP queues. Took them forever but Blizz finally realized this.
In Vanilla, me and my friends made a group to defend Crossroads from gankers. Anytime this capped rogue came to gank lowbies you'd eventually see 3 orcs, a tauren, and an undead running or flying into crossroads together. And each time we'd get stronger till we could kill him. And eventually all the lowbies would join forces and chase him out. It was like the Z fighters vs. Frieza, lmao.
You just don't get stuff like that in live wow.ωσяℓ∂ тяανєℓєя ȼяєω

It'll be interesting if the new team they've brought on considers bringing out content exclusive to vanilla servers in say two or three years that deviates off the current game lore. Like you stay at 60 in Azeroth, but they bring out raids we've never seen.

Haven't seen any word on that yet. I'd imagine it would work but who knows. The most we have is the interview from Allen Brack, which isn't much:
http://www.wowhead.com/news=275482/w...we-know-so-far
As interesting and cool as that would be, I think the debacle of alternate timelines from wod would prevent that from happening. Plus it would essentially become an alternate universe game, another game franchise entirely. Not sure if they'd go to those lengths.ωσяℓ∂ тяανєℓєя ȼяєω

They should do what Runescape did:
1. make a classic server with a few minor QOL changes,
2. keep the content classic for X amount years
3. then introduce brand new classic-style content that was never seen before.
It'll be ran entirely by a separate team, separate developer team, etc, just like Runescape.

Yeah I reckon progression is essential in keeping the player base interested. You can still keep the vanilla experience with a few QOL changes and extra content in a few years: keep the cap at 60 and don't bring in anything cross server related or flying etc. Blizz might have to change a few mechanics around to make specs viable/ interesting to play (aka not spamming one button on a boss fight) and reduce pointless grinds (stuff like attunements, character leveling, and rep grinds aren't pointless, I mean **** like weapon level and changing specs). Boss mechanics might have to change up a bit as well to be more interactive as opposed to tank and spank, maybe drop some trash mobs out as well which were a pain in the ass.

This is probably why Blizz didnt want to do legacy servers in the 1st place.
1 - Reject the idea of legacy servers because the game has changed so much that nobody has an idea of how to balance / release / update it
2 - Get petition that the people want Legacy as it is
3 - QoL changes demanded and now people want faction changes, horde alliance same account. LFR. Faster mob spawn rates. Class balancing so specs actually work. Updated models? Do they stagger the content release?
4 - What about distance and latency? People in LA, NYC, Austrailia, Singapore, China, Hongkong, Russia all want to play legacy servers. But maybe only 1000 in each country. Do they all connect to Irvine servers? Or is blizz supposed to make servers for each region despite small crowds?
Suddenly its not vanilla anymore and its costing blizz alot more to do these servers than they originally anticipatedIW3725-04, Black 116520, White 26320

the amount of false information being spread around by people who "played vanilla" on the WoW forums is very high lol
people writing 2000 word essays detaling how each class was played in vanilla, and what they write is completely false or extremely misinformation just to try and convince people not to play classic.
lots of vanilla haters lol
my theory is that these haters know that the classic servers are going to be extremely popular and that they might be "forced" to play classic because lots of their friends will hop over to it.Yellow Fever Crew

I'm gonna lol so hard when we get the inevitable 'My class sucks' threads on the WoW forums. I think a lot of people are miss remembering certain things about vanilla that made it not fun, and certain specs and class not being viable was a major issue.
I played pally for a decent part of vanilla and let me tell you all I did in raids was flash heal and bubble. And for PvP I had to rely on my SoC proc to do any dmg. Nothing like fukin auto white dmg, lmao.
One other thing, raids were onlt hard because you had to get 40 people on, now that's easier because of all the social apps and connectivity of the world we live in. But the actual mechanics were pretty braindead. As a Mage all I did was Frostbolt and some fireballs, and I was in a top 10 guild at the time. Compare current raids in WOW mechanic wise to vanilla and it's Night and Day.Italian Crew
