Hi
I am wondering if its even worth it to be working on without being on a caloric surplus. When I dont eat on a caloric surplus than I dont seem to be adding weight at all and my strength in the gym isnt even going up
On days I cant eat on a caloric surplus, should I just not lift? Doesnt seem to be worth it
Thanks

You should understand that a caloric surplus is not just for a day it spans over a longer period.
If you are gaining 0.5-2 pounds per week than you are on a caloric surplus.
Assuming you are a beginner you are still able to progress without a caloric surplus.Texas Method Log *https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=173755621*

OP, I am an 'ectomorph' too, and needless to say that your alimentation is important. Without being in caloric surplus, your progression will fastly become pretty slow. Especially if you're having a lot of activities in your day, and if you are tall.
Try eating bread, drinking milk, and eat everytime you can. I started like that and I had results, obviously nothing crazy, but still.
So yeah you can at the beginning if you just eat normally, but not for a long time. Good luck
