Can I be successful eating fish, chicken & fruits/vegetables?

    Hey all,

I have an odd question. I was wondering if there is any harm in getting all of my protein from fresh fish and grilled chicken breast, and all of my carbs from fresh fruits and steamed vegetables, provided I hit all my macros. I am fairly confident about the protein sources, so I guess this question is mostly asking if I can get all my carbs from things like apples, blueberries, bananas, etc. I would not be eating things like pasta and rice (except for on select occasions). There is no crazy dietary fad reason I am considering this. The main reason is convenience. It takes up far less time and energy grabbing a couple bananas, apples, berries, asparagus, bro****, etc. than having to deal with cooking, lol. My veggies are all "steam in the bag" variety, so they are microwave ready. I would use these food items when either bulking or cutting.

Well, how do you mean by "successful"?

If you are talking from a body composition standpoint (gaining or losing weight)... yes.

You can gain or lose weight eating any foods. And the foods you listed are no exception.

But--the most ideal diet will include a variety of different foods and not be limited by those choices.

Too little fats, unless your main fish is salmon.

    Add nuts, nutsbutter, oil, eggs.

well you wouldnt be getting any complex carbs if you only ate fruit and low calorie vegetables. That would be pretty bad for your energy levels and youd have sugar crushes all the time. Consider eating some potatos, sweet potatos or even canned sweetcorn if you cant manage cooking anything

Is there any super convenient way to prepare sweet potatoes, but is not super processed like powder or something? lol

And I thought bananas were complex carbs.

poke a few holes, stick it in the microwave for 7 minutes or more depending on the size and im pretty sure bananas are fruit so its primarily fructose.. unless bananas are an exeption

No harm. Hit your macros, fiber and micronutrients and you will have results if your program is solid and you’re consistent.

I think you're taking it too far and you won't stick to that diet. Fruits, veg, chicken, fish is just too limited.
Don't get too carried away limiting yourself. No processed foods, sure. Limiting added sugar and white flour, sure.

A little too much all-or-nothing going on here.

How about you eat like you described when your time is short, and when you do have more time to prepare meals, enjoy a more balanced and varied diet.
