Extreme forearm pain when curling dumbell :( need help

    Hello all,
I'm semi new to lifting. Been lifting off and on for years. I'm really starting to get serious about it now.

Problem: I've developed an agonizing pain in my right forearm when curling dumbells. It feels like the tissues/veins/muscles are about to tear. It sends tingling sensations all down my arm. I have since stopped curling. It doesn't hurt when I do hammer curls at all, so I've been substituting those instead. My question is will the hammer curls still make my biceps big like a normal bicep curl will?

I cannot go back to regular curls. I've let my arm rest for weeks, only to come back back and the pain still be there as soon as I start curling again. I don't think my right arm can ever curl again. This has been going on for several months now.

Go see a doctor first. My experience is doing regular curls early on I strained my right forearm at the top area (not sure the name of that part of the bicep) but it hurt like hell. Hammer curls did not feel so bad. Nonetheless, take a break for a bit until that heals and you see a doc. If it's on the inside of the bicep near the elbow that's a different story. Let it heal is your best option. Don't force it.
