    Dropping weights increase sets

    Hi guys

Does it make sense if i drop weight to increase sets. Currently I am doing 3x10 for certain weight, then i try dropping weight to do 5x10, I felt that i get more juice out of it. But does it make sense? I see some people doing 15 sets etc... instead of the popular 3 sets.

There are a million ways to go about it. Half of those may be wrong but a lot of them are right as well.
So instead of wasting time trying to find what works just follow a professionally written routine which is proven to work, lots in the stickies.

    Yes.

    No.

    Maybe.

All training parameters have to be evaluated and decided upon based on the individual's training experience and his chosen goal. If you're a beginner (as I assume you to be since you're asking the question), you'd do well to simply follow the advice offered in post #2, put in a year's time under the bar on a structured program, and learn for yourself what works (and doesn't work) for you. You'll then, at that time, have a good knowledge base from which to make your own decisions on how much and of what you should be doing to keep yourself moving forward.
    No brain, no gain.

"The fitness and nutrition world is a breeding ground for obsessive-compulsive behavior. The irony is that many of the things people worry about have no impact on results either way, and therefore aren't worth an ounce of concern."--Alan Aragon

It absolutely makes sense. This is how you add more volume to an exercise when progress stalls and you can no longer add reps or weight.

Is that the whole purpose of dropping weight and add sets?

add weight drop reps if it were me... go for 8 reps for more weight.

OR as all have said stick to a proven routine.
