I've recently started to try out sumo deadlifts and was wondering what you guys think on just doing box squats to bring up the sumo deadlift without really doing sumos? I'm running an upper/lower split atm which is basically as follows:
Intensity Upper
Intensity Lower
Rest
Volume Upper
Volume Lower
Rest
Rest
I cycle exercises every 4 weeks (so if I do a sumo deadlift on intensity lower, I don't perform it again until another 4 weeks have passed i.e. concurrent perdiodisation with high exercise selection...sought of westside-ish but without the DE days)
I do box squat variations on the volume lower days and dead variations on the intensity lower days but was thinking of just doing box squat variations on both days e.g. with different band tensions and box levels. Once every 4 weeks I'd plan on doing the sumo deadlift to test it out.
Thanks babes

It will be hard to get proficient with the movement if you're only pulling sumo once a month. I know you're testing it out, but if you're only testing it every four weeks, you'll be starting from square one each time.
You can't help the hopeless.
