Take it one goal at a time. First focus on trying to gain 15-20 pounds in a year before 40. Quality > Quantity.

Brahh no!!!! That is the wrong approach you don't wanna just get fat(er). Take your time eat in a surplus and try to build some muscle. It's not good for your health to just pack on fat ya'know. Though if you are adamant in not wanting to build muscle maybe gain 10-15lbs (enough to cause a pretty noticable change visibly to yourself and others) and see how you feel. At that point you might realize it's the lack of muscle that you don't like or you might feel you wanna pack on more fat.

In your early stages you can be lean and gain a great deal of weight. I also, had gained 50LB's in 6 months & was still fairly lean. The fat gains followed soon after, but with a small adjustment in diet everything was OK. However, I started at 120 Pounds 5,9 therefore had a lot of room for gains.

I gained 40 pounds in a year so I would say it's fine unless you notice that your body fat went up a lot.

I disagree depends on the person I gained 40 pounds in a year and I look a lot leaner because of the added muscle.
