Finally made its way upstairs. I may swap the top crossmember/pull up station.

Looks great, use it well. I like the pull up station, was that an upgrade? When I look at legend’s website, it shows the rack assembled with the bottom crossmember flipped. This would put the bottom crossmember bar between the middle and back uprights. I have mine assembled like yours and use a piece of wood between the bottom crossmember and bench to help position the bench and to keep it from sliding back when I bench. I’ve thought about flipping the crossmember to see if that would be enough to put the bench in the correct position.

Op, the rack looks great in your newly finished room. On spread from the rack picture in the driveway.

Eric, when I was looking at Legend racks, that pull up cross member was an option listed as a "Pro Series Pull Up Bar", I feel it not only looks better, I think it's more functional as well.

grandpa is correct. It's the "pro series pull up station" and it was the same price as the other upgrades ($195)

Eric - so the bottom crossmember is supposed to be flipped? Wouldn't that cause the need for the bench to straddle the crossmember? I'll go take a look at Legend's site now.

    Thanks guys.

I'm quickly learning that adjusting the spotter arms is a pain in the ass. It would be such an easy design change to make one of the pins 1" longer than the other so you can get one started while lining up the second.

Second workout is in the books. Pull up station is solid. And, Powerblocks are performing just like any other dumbbell I've ever used.
Oh, and I curled in the squat rack

Yes modifying the pins on the swing in safeties makes things so much easier, I had about 7/8" of the pin showing when the safeties were in place. I cut 5/8" off the rear pins, 5 minutes with a hacksaw, the rear pins still go right through the front post, it's made all the difference. As you say it would be such an easy modification for Legend if they did this at the time of manufacture.

So, ended up putting the pull up station in the same position as Legend has it. I was a bit concerned with it potentially not being as rock solid as I'd like. Well, those concerns are completely gone. Just for reference I'm 6'2" and ~210 here.

If I could do that many pull ups without stopping, I'd need a fan that close too. Gym looks great! Repped.

Fan is on my list to replace. That one has a bent blade from the kids throwing balls into it so it wobbles. There is quite a bit of clearance there anyway, but I'll get one that sucks up to the ceiling better.

Has anybody used the Rogue monster J hooks on their Legend? Of course, everytime I think about it I'm at work and away from the rack to measure. We're 3x3 with 1 inch pin, correct?

Yes, I have a pair which are now on the front of my rack. There is a bit of wiggle which could be fixed with a uhmw shim. One fits better than the other. The do include uhmw or felt to protect the uprights. I still do not understand why legend doesn’t do this.

Personal experience: weights, heavy stuff, and etc. Concrete floor: basement or garage. All other flooring, calisthenics or cardio machines. Okay maybe a Bowflex.
Crossfit = A LOT of doctor visits.

I agree as far as this being the best set up, however, quite a few guys on here have some hefty equipment and weights in upstairs rooms.

In a perfect world, concrete floor with rubber flooring would be ideal. However, it's the biggest climate controlled space in my house (no basement). The only other option I had was my 3 car garage. That would have required installing A/C in the garage at a substantial cost.
You don't have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.

Whereabouts are you in California? I thought I’d die in the summer in my garage gym...but it wasn’t bad at all.

Central valley. Regularly 100*+ in the summer time. My garage always seems like it's +10* hotter than the outside temp.

This is a common question about flooring. What experience did you have? Something fell through? I had a couple thousand lbs of equipment in bonus room over garage for several years without incident.

I wish my place was in the Bay Area only for value purposes . I'd be living in my retirement.

Typically, residential code requires a uniform live load of 40# per sq. ft. A 20x20 room (400 sq. ft) can withstand 16,000 lbs. That's distributed evenly across the room, however, you get the point.

I had a hard time finding any definitive answers, live load didn't really apply to 1000# of plates lol. Most relevant info came from some mention of water beds and large aquariums. Like I said nothing ever landed on my wife's Jeep, so there's that. Just wondered if fingerguy had actually found a breaking point?
