    Unhappy Back pain when running

I use to be a cross country runner and ran a few 5ks. I really really want to get back in to racing. When I attempt to run either on pavement or machines lower back kills me. Best way to describe it is that it feels like my back is locking up. It’s very painful and continues to hurt after running? Has anyone else have similar pain and if so how were you able to overcome it?

check out your shoes and hips first. Issues with those can cause some back pain.

Have someone check out your gait as well.

I good runner's store might be able to help you out.

Seriously consider going to a specialist to check you out.
Furthermore the exact movemetns you do when running as well as your shoes have huge impact on your pain as well. Speak with a professonal athlete or trainer about these.

^ what these guys have said

Also, if you can find a decent sports shop that can analyse your gait when you run, that might help. They'll usually record you running on a treadmill so that they can find a shoe that best fits (or corrects) your gait and will also mold a pair of insoles especially to your feet. This helped solve some issues that I had a year ago.
