I'm completely new to this..I was wondering if I were to cut out junk and beer start making better choices on foods..and start working out..I will lose weight. Or do I have to completely count calories in the beginning..
I really don't consider myself fat I do have a bit of a belly but I would definitely like to get bigger arms chest and shoulders and lose a bit of the gut...not looking for abs..maybe around 15% bf min..

I don't count anything anymore and am cutting bodyfat just fine that way.
Mostly do this by reducing snacking, somewhat reducing carbs and having very protein + fat heavy meals. (apart from breakfast usually).
However. I have tracked before, am pretty aware of food choices and rough eyeballing calories.
So counting could be pretty useful for you, if you have IOS Evolve is the best app, if not Myfitnesspal is decent.
Are you sure you are 15% bf? 245lbs and 15% is rather big for an untrained individual5 day full body crew

ah I misread mb, makes more sense.
I'd suggest getting one of those apps, tracking, weighing in the morning and taking weekly averages.
Try and get a 1-2lb a week weight loss going steady. You'll probably be alright with 2lbs.
And lift while doing it, good novice programs in the workout section stickies5 day full body crew

You should get in the habit of calorie counting in the beginning , but you dont have to depend on it forever . It should give you an idea of what better food choices to have and know how to ration your plate with the right amount of macros. I recommend myfitness pal for this . I have all my clients on it and they are doing fantastic. Or join a local weight watchers group

Thanks for the reply. Yes I know that calorie counting will be the answer..I just don't wanna fail at the beginning and give up like almost everyone I know..I'm hoping just by cutting the junk and eating more protein healthy foods that I can drop enough weight where I feel like I'm getting somewhere and then I should have the motivation to start the calorie counting.if that makes any sense lol.. Thanks again for the replys guys. Really helps
