Maybe..I might play
But I may sit on the bench and see how it plays out first.
Then I will take a knee and think about it.
Then stand up and stretch my arms out with my fingers locked together. Raise them high in the air and make a fist while I YAWN.
Then go to my locker room and write my players names out.My Log - https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=170367151&page=50

as soon as the division races heat up in a couple months and the press stops making a big deal out of this we're all gonna be left wondering what they thought was gonna be accomplished, there is no end to justify the means here..
we're all gonna be left wondering where the line between "protesting" and "just being trendy" was
this crap will fall by the wayside just like the wave and the macarena did !

ffs, just go all the way and replace the Anthem with a flag burning ceremony.
I think of some of my WWII African American veterans who went off and fought in the great war that saved the world, came back to Alabama and real overt racism and they never stopped honoring the flag.
Such a different generation.A man who views the world the same at 50 as he did at 20 has wasted 30 years of his life.

This is not a protest against the flag. You've been listening to the dupers. It's a protest against racial injustice, which a non-trivial number of players have been subjected to at one time or another.
BTW, Trump is very proud of NASCAR for refusing to allow kneeling during the anthem. But of course, they only have one single black driver.“Those who can make you believe absurdities, can make you commit atrocities.”

The flag (to me) not only symbolizes who we are and who were were, but most importantly who we aspire to be. I understand that they don't see it that way, nor do I say they are disrespecting America.. but that's how I feel.
Just like I say to the #MAGA crowd. America IS Great. If you don't like it, you are free to leave. I feel the same way towards the protesters.
In this country, there are many things that divide us, but I believe much more that unites us, including our love for freedom and equality. The symbol for that IS the flag. Allegiance to the flag is a bond that is behind only allegiance to gawd (for those that believe) and Family. It's not something that is fair weather.
I think the means of the protest is misguided and totally inconsistent with the principle of "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.
I believe that systemic racism is real. But in all things, there's a right way and a wrong way to do things. I simply think that protesting the flag is wrong. I support their right, but I don't support the practice if that makes sense.
On balance though, it's not a big issue to me. I'm still gonna watch NFL. The game is the game, and that's wha I care about most in all of this.A man who views the world the same at 50 as he did at 20 has wasted 30 years of his life.

If the majority of the NFL were white players, Trump’s response would have been the exact same. So would mine and most everyone who disagrees with the kneeling.
But, I agree they have a right to kneel. I just think their message gets lost since the playing field isn’t the best way to voice whatever they are doing.Helping one person may not change the world, but it could change the world for one person.

Well, what are the alternatives? Most protests about divisive issues will either lead to outrage or be ignored. From the perspective of the players, there are real issues with America that people try and not think about. So, in their heads, the action must be provocative and in public view in order for people to have to think about it.

Do you think the NFL forum is the most appropriate way and the only way to get their points across? From the perspectives of the players, it is a perfect example of race-baiting and massive Group Think. Not to mention, it has and will negatively affect the NFL's revenue.
The players could organize their own press conferences or have a live ******** conference, or do something on their own time instead of the NFL's time, etc, etc...Helping one person may not change the world, but it could change the world for one person.

If their concern is discriminatory policing in the black community I think it's an appropriate and effective forum for protest because part of communicating a message is forcing people to confront it's importance. Many of the people upset by the NFL protests appear to be happy maintaining the status quo of policing. Targeting sectors of society that are important to people and have participation of black people (like professional sports) seems to be a pretty smart way to go.

You can't showboat or twerk in the end zone after a play, there's a rule about that and a hefty fine. But it's ok to disrespect the anthem and flag.

As always enjoyed the conversation and while I am not trying to debate right or wrong just make an overall point that this form of protest is highly relevant and very much within the bounds of what the NFL players are capable of. These players are likely some of the only black public figures and role models that many in the "Blue Lives / All Lives Matter" camps have in their media diet which can possibly make these protests all the more impactful."it's likely one of us will have to spend some days alone"
