    Must have pre-workout ingredients?

In your opinion what ingredients are a must, when buying a pre-workout supplement?

Example: taurine, beta-alanine... you get the point.
    Just.... fk it.

    Caffeine for sure.

I also like to see Citrulline and agmatine myself for their many benefits.

I know it's a saturation ingredient and doesn't provide acute benefits but I personally don't mind a clinical dose of creatine in a pre. I'm gonna take creatine regardless so if it's in a pre it saves me from adding it from somewhere else that day.

At least one focus ingredient as well: Huperzine A, citi****ne, ALCAR

So to recap: caffeine, agmatine, Citrulline and a focus ingredient. Creatine is nice but not a must. Nitrates are also great

    There isn't much that is a must-have.

    Citrulline or Citrulline Malate
Reasonable amount of caffeine for the application (varies)
At least one solid focus ingredient, this can vary

There really isn't anything must-have, when it comes down to it. There are different ways of accomplishing a lot of the same things, and different pres use different combinations of ingredients that target the same result so the specific amount of each can vary. Example, I get great pumps from Kraken even though it only has 4G of citrulline, so it would be silly for me to demand 6G or more. And for stimulants the required amount will depend on what other stims are present, and my intended use for the product.

If you can get L-Citrulline in a preworkout over the Malate that'd be better but most don't have the pure form. A focus ingredient is a must as well. The caffeine you can get from drinking coffee unless you want to load up on it day by day

Citrulline Malate has shown better results than just plain Citrulline.

Must have ingredients are really user specific. It depends on what you as an individual are looking for from a preworkout. For me I prefer pump and focus ingredients moreso than I do stims.

The must haves IMO are caffeine, beta alanine, and citrulline malate.

As others have said, the BA isn't necessary pre workout, but for me it's convenient and I actually want the tingles to tell me my PWO is "working".

I've been mixing the above 3 and for convenience also adding a full dose of creatine, along with a scoop of Gatorade powder for flavor and some carbs I guess.

I've also been adding BCAAs, mostly just because I have them, but don't know if I really believe they add anything.

    Current PWO is looking like:

    200-400mg caffeine
    5g beta alanine
    5g citrulline malate
    5g creatine
    5g BCAAs

Still tweaking that and considering things to add. Will probably up BA and CM to 6g and drop BCAAs once they run out.

But anyhow, the must haves I would say are the caffeine for stim, BA for tingles, and CM for blood flow and pumps.

    I like:

    Caffeine
    Citrulline
    Betaine is nice

Creatine and Beta Alanine aren't exactly necessary but I like to have them in there so that I don't have to remember to take them separately.

    Taurine and Tyrosine are nice

I also workout on an empty stomach first thing in the morning so BCAAs are nice to have.

    It depends on the day

For a pre workout I like 125-200 mgs caffeine usually although some days I don't take any caffeine like yesterday on arms and cardio

Today i took some geranium bc nose was stuffy with 160 mgs caffeine, plus legs today , did 5 plates per side=10 x's on hack squats

If I have to work late I might not have any that day, and take a gram of agmatine prior to training
