I never had any issues for years before recently. I think a big reason is because after pulling 600 where my hand tore badly I didn't take a few weeks break to let it heal completely. A week later I was deadlifting again, so although the skin had mended it wasn't really healed, and the skin never grew back thick again, so that lead to more tears. That's why I think at this point i need to either take a little break, like a couple weeks, or in the mean time wear something like the above^ until it can heal properly. So, if anyone has ever used those gymnastic grip, let me know if it works. Otherwise, I might look into a thicker athletic tape or something until I feel like it's good to go.

Not everyone has the hands for it (baby hands), or strength for it. There are lifters that can hold 800 in the palm, but not in their finger tips.

Not everyone has the hands for it (baby hands), or strength for it. There are lifters that can hold 800 in the palm, but not in their finger tips.

Its not about holding on the fingers. More about getting the bar to push the meaty pads up when setting the grip and not into a position in the middle of the palm that will pull down pinching the callouses and eventually ripping them up.

Competed this past weekend. Didn't go great but could have been worse.

Kept getting called for depth on squat. Took my opener of 584 for all 3 attempts, finally got it on my third. https://www.instagram.com/p/Bk-iYVMB...ken-by=fayerjw

Bench went a little better. Easy opener at 353. Completely messed up my second at 380. Got red lights for uneven lockout and downward motion. Got it fairly easy on my third. https://www.instagram.com/p/Bk-ix6VB...ken-by=fayerjw

Deadlifts went better. Easy opener at 628, easy second at 661, and then finally got 700 for a third.

Totaled 1664 with a PR deadlift. The goal was 1700+, but with the squat calls it was pretty much out of the question. Annoying too, because squat felt really good going into this meet.

I like most of the things they are doing though. Boxers simply so that kids don't yell at you when they don't read the rulebook and don't buy briefs. Shirtless for equality etc

Yeah, the depth calls were annoying. A few people who squatted more narrow than me got higher squats passed. I guess thats why these judges were all state level judges.

Its 699.96, I made sure to add .04lbs of chalk to the bar so my ego can still be higher than my squats.

Except for drug testing and competing in other feds. Seems like they want to do a ton of drug testing. And it doesn't say it anywhere, but I think Wilks likes the rule on banning lifters who try to compete in another fed.

I also don't get why he's on 1 hand suing IPF for kicking him, PA, and Oceania out and on the other hand joining a new international federation to counter the IPF. So if he ends up winning his lawsuit, what is going to do jump back over to the IPF?

He's always bounced back and forth. He's doing a USAPL meet in Atlanta that has prize money and is signed up for raw and equipped. He'll probably do the equipped with just wraps to win some more money.

I wish he'd do a real equipped meet. Would steamroll everyone in the 120s. Probably squat a grand and bench near 8. Only competition I could see is if Semenenko moves up like he's said.

He's a big boy now. Weighed in at 126 in January and then 130 in May. He was saying for awhile he's done with cutting to 120, but now posted about how he'd really like the 120 bench world record. I think if he stayed 120+, had a good crew to train with, and practiced for awhile, he could get to Joe Cappellino level who has hit a 1015 squat, 770 bench, and 800 deadlift. But you know it's not magic, he's not gonna easily cut down to 120s and put up 1000-800-800 in an instant.
