I haven't seen any of his videos but I saw a bunch of other people type something like, 'Wow he's been hitting depth in training this whole cycle I don't know what happened on the platform' so now I don't know what to believe

I haven't seen him hit depth in a while. A lot of people commenting on his 515kg saying it was good which is even more ridiculous. It was blatantly high. I'm still a fan, but if he keeps bombing like this he won't make it to Worlds.

Definitely am a fan and like he posts right out it was high. Makes no excuse and Will get back to training hard.

Went to the arnold this year. The deadlift battle between rob hall and steve johnson didn't seem interesting at first. 600lbs deadlifts and they just go rep for rep. Over an hour later and 60 reps each it was a different story. Steves hands are gone, calluses the size of a small childs hand were being cut from his palm. Rob left on a stretcher when it was all said and done.

Good idea for an event, but the weight should have been 700+ not 600.

I didn't even know that happened. I really like Rob Hall as a lifter though.

I first thought they were going to have 2 bars loaded. One for each lifter. Then they basically do reps until one can't anymore.

They basically did a single at 600 every 60 seconds. It started very boring obviously, but after 30 or 40 reps they were really struggling, it was pretty intense at the end. Including warmups it was an hour and a half. They ate into Andrew Herberts squat session by 30 minutes.

They event sounds really stupid, but being there the anticipation and excitement built every rep. If they do it again, it has to be heavier or just one set. Both men paid a price for this one.

I heard all his gear was new. Like at equipment check he literally took them out of the new plastic bags. Also, the legs seemed quite low. Even so, he smoked 515. If he can break in the suit a little and get down those 2 inches with 515, then he's gonna crush a new WR. I guess it's better to have tested it out at the Arnold and be ready for Nationals and Worlds.

I guess when you already own the WRs you can take risks.

Taking them new out of the bags is putting an awful lot of faith that they'll be measured right

ya, that was absolutely insane. He looks pretty trim because of his height but he does weigh 330lbs. He's not thor or Shaw big, but he is a big dude.

Damn, I missed that. I saw the bag toss, but had to leave before this event.

Mateusz is pretty damn impressive. He did a similar thing at WSM 2017 with the plane pull. Just seems like he goes all out and crushes one event then doesn't have much left for the rest of the contests. Definitely a ton of potential.

Dang he got the middle of the lift just forgot the beginning and end

Malan squatted 450 in 2010. He's been at it longer than most of the newer generation has even been lifting weights. He probably doesn't have much room for improvement left. In most sports there's a slow and steady increase of the WR so it makes sense for a god in 2010 to be beaten in 2018. raw records are just going up at an increasing rate compared to most sports since the popularity is so new

I hear you but every time he broke the record he smoked it. I've seen him grind lifts before so it's not like he's a Brian Siders. He has been around forever though. There's stuff on YT of Malan lifting at IPF worlds in 2001.
