My family has made plans to evacuate sometime down the week before the storm hits our area. We'll be heading up to Alabama, not sure where, but hopefully north or inland where the storm can't do more damage.
Did not want this chit to happen, but if it means living, got to. Taking couple of suitcases of clothes and personal stuff, getting my computer and other important tech stuff, taking our dogs of course, and we're getting the hell out of here. Now I'm only praying I'll still have my home and everything else I had to leave behind with no sustained damages, when this chit is all over.
To everyone else, good luck.***Black Crew***

3-4 days before it makes land fall.
Midnight to 4am you better be starting out on I-95.
2-3 days before landfall and it's total chaos
1-2 days before, you're riding it out. Safer in the house than on 95 in a parking lot.
Make the call, make it early, don't regret the decision.-Misc Pilot/Airplane Owner Crew

Brahs, this is a really great thread for us that are unfortunately in the "danger zone" and really appreciate the helpful info here from people who have done this before. I've been in Miami for about 10 years and we've had many scares and close calls but I've never actually experienced one or had to evacuate fortunately.

They are playing off the trailing Jose storm like its nothing but they played Irma off as nothing until it went from a cat 2 to a cat 5 in 24 hours. I wonder if that storm is going to get the same type of strength increase as it gets closer to landfall? I mean they are falling the almost exact same path. That would be crazy to get hit with 2 big ass hurricanes back to back
I like the tuna here.

This^^^^ most homeowners insurance do not cover flood from the floor up, so if a tree falls and breaks your chit and the top of your house is damaged you're fine, but any water damage from flooding more than likely isn't covered. And now is too late to look too, as soon as a storm is projected to hit near you, insurances won't sell new coverage (you also need to get a flood certificate from city hall before you apply anyways).

Not entirely correct. Tornados and hurricanes are similar in that they both create a vortex. The tornado is simply a more compact atmospheric disturbance that may cause more damage in a smaller area due to higher winds.
On the other hand, hurricanes are much larger and can cover an entire state and although the winds maybe lower they are much more destructive. They are sustained winds of much longer duration lasting hours as opposed to minutes.
They also add torrential rains that can weaken foundation and tear apart structure. In addition, the flood waters, can cause mud slides etc. And if all that isn't bed enough, as already mentioned, tornados can be contained within hurricanes.🎥

Hmm, I saw an article saying any sources claiming this could strengthen to a category 6 is "fake news". Apparently no such thing as a category 6, simply because it hasn't happened. What makes scientist think it can't happen, just because it's never been recorded yet? I also wonder how bad should it get for them to classify anything above a 5? What makes them classify strength in the first place, and what are the consistent differences in categories? Say if that difference were to be created again, and then boom, a category 6? Historical.
