Starting Strength is a novice routine. Don't expect significant results as a novice, regardless. Possibly what you consider a "good physique" is not obtainable as a novice.

You can certainly make some physique progress as a novice, including with starting strength.

But if your primary consideration is how good you look flexing in the mirror or at the beach with your shirt off, a strength and performance centered program probably isn't the best choice.

Starting strength is a good routine for the first few months you lift. Building a quality physique takes more than a few months. Doesnt mean you dont start out with SS or any other beginners program though.

My lifting for the past 3 years has consisted of...

    Squat
    Bench
    Sldl
    Pull up

    Squat
    Ohp
    Row
    Pull up

    I just change reps..

    Sometimes 5, 10, 12 for several blocks,

    I feel I have a decent physique...

My wife just commented that my arms look small. That's all I need to know about moving on. I like a push pull squat routine with some accessory exercises thrown in. Waterbury has one but I can make my own.

Beginner programs don't build physiques, that takes years. Beginner programs give you the fastest start to doing that. Get moving in the right direction and worry about physique in a year.

    Very Good

I have been lifting for a long time and Riioetoe makes a good argument that SS cures everything. Kind of a cult/we know better that you attitude. Anyone have suggestions on a 3 day split.

Step 1: get a new wife

That's like you telling her she's fat. You've gotta be doing it for yourself, not for someone else, if you really wanna be motivated to make real progress.

I knew I have been getting smaller. Still big in the back, shoulders, hip and thighs but I have let the arms and calves go by the wayside. That makes it that much tougher because I have to catch up the forgotten lifts. Should be fun, ready for a new change.
