Yes, its turn based combat and normally I wouldn't be caught dead in that genre, but this game..this fuking game had me addicted, playing the alpha/beta version all night long, and i finished it about 3-4 times since then.
Beautiful graphics, story, spell animations, and as the latest addition to the game - it will be completely voiced for every single character/NPC. With more than 1,000 NPCs, developer Larian Studios decided from the off that it'd just be too much work. But it quietly changed its mind earlier this year, hired 80 actors, and recorded more than a million spoken words.
Play with friends in Co-op/split-screen, explore, create your own spells, make your own skill path, kill anyone you want, this game has everything.
Also, there is master mode, meaning you can create your own adventure/story and have your friends play it while you control it in real time, a la dungeons & dragons.
Create your own maps, environments, encounters, items etc:

I really wanted to like and love the first game becuase it felt like Dragon age origins and has co op, but it was too whimsical .. The game lost me the moment it took me to some different dimension/portal. Remember being confused with the inventory system as well. Game just wasnt for me.

they reworked the inventory system, you can auto sort it now, create stacks etc.
this game genre isnt for everyone but I strongly encourage people to at least check it out. Its challening, exciting, there is a very strong chance you will wipe on one of the first enemy you faceLast edited by stasmtl; 08-30-2017 at 09:24 AM.

Hnnng. Loved the first one. I put like 85 hours into it and that was just a single play through with a buddy. Had no idea this one was putting a DM mode/quest maker deal in it, they are either too complicated (Unity mode) or too simplistic to make anything fun. I hope it doesn't detract from the main game as far as development goes, but these guys put out good work. I'll put another 85 hours into this one, maybe more if the community creates some cool content.

bro this is how much I have put into it, and it was only in their early access, where all we had was Act 1. Mind you, it was incomplete act 1, in early stages of the game. Granted I have completed it 2 times and then messed around some, I can guarantee you will not only have to put in more time in this game, you will WANT to.
There will be 3 acts, first is an introduction, second act is supposed to be HUUUGE and focused on the development of story/character, and third act is the conclusion.
And dont worry, master mode wont detract from anything, its a nice little bonus they're including with the release for people to play, but that mode isn't for everyone, its targeting a specific audience from my understanding. I will probably end up never touching it, no IRL friends who play.*4 crew*

Can you explain a little bit about it being slow? It's a narrative driven, turn-based tactical RPG. It has exploratory elements, like in Skyrim how you can open every barrel and crate and maybe find something that initiates a quest. It's about as fast as it can be. If you don't like reading (or listening since they just announced full voiceover I think. like a million words of dialogue) or turn based combat, it's not going to be for you.

I found the first one so much better than pillars of eternity. So much more flexible, better in everything actually. PoE I found incredibly boring, and pretty much a copy and paste of baldur's gate. But Divinity Original Sin is like a completely rebuilt, extremely polished, innovative isometric RPG.

This, except the inverse of mostly everything said, personally. The difficulty curve was among the worst i've seen and after like the first act i was formulaically dumpstering everything without any thought. But i am hopeful, the jump in gameplay sophistication looks as big as XCOM to XCOM2 and the rp stuff looks better too. I'm sure this game will be a blast

In the sense that it's a story/narrative driven cRPG, yes. Lots of dialogue, lots of random quests you can find, leveling up, spells, skills, items, stats etc. Although the tone is completely opposite. D:OS definitely has some comedic flair and doesn't take itself too seriously, whereas PoE was mostly serious/dark.
If you liked PoE AND you like turned base RPG's (IE shadowrun, xcom, wasteland 2 etc) you should like Divinity OS.
Somewhat agree. I originally didn't even play past like the undead north of town in D:OS1 because, like you said, it was incredibly difficult. Once I figured some of the mechanics and stuff out, I was doing alot better. Several of the bosses definitely proved to be difficult, but mostly everything inbetween was getting steamrolled. Still a ton of fun either way.
So far, even without voice acting (which makes the game feel less alive), act I of D:OS2 is awesome.

I played the first one a lot, and while I did enjoy it, I felt like it was over-rated to say the least. There was no direction for you characters development and while the contrast is having a too linear path, which is a problem trend that seems to be happening these days with rpgs (WoW for example with there extremely linear class system) I could never feel like I was powerful and I had a good rotation of spells down. It all just seemed way to much in the moment i guess you could say.

Slowly but surely making my way through DOS EE. Once you sort of figure out how all the combat/environmental and AI systems work, things get a bit easier and it seems like at this point, the goal is not to be smart in combat but figure out a way to exploit the AI systems.. unless that's considered a form of playing smart. A lot of fights feel like I'm cheesing the AI but the game is letting me get away with it sooooo....
I'm about 22 hours in and still feel like I've barely scratched the surface :|
No telling how long the actual game is in terms of where I am with the story. Also it seems I've beaten a few quests just brute forcing my way through (like the underground pirate cove area) vs actually going there for a quest. Wasn't until I found some random non hostile ghost and googled who TF he was that I relized I was supposed to go talk to him in town first or something.
So yeah if I had to leverage a major complaint against the game so far, it's that there is not much direction in terms of what I'm supposed to be doing. I'm just sort of wandering around.Sig line can't be a novel

Can you be more clear on "exploit the AI system"? I don't see how it can be exploited, rather, like you said, you're playing it smart. Also, increase the difficulty if you have too. I do agree that there is no direction and it was my big complaint about the first game but the first game had way more direction so they def digressed in that area.
That being said....yeah I'm having a blast playing... They pretty much improved everything else in the game besides having a direction to go towards. Even the class system seems better, can't actually put into thoughts why but once I play more I'll explain in more detail.190lbs Comp lifts: 420/350/600 USAPL
