    Exclamation Alcohol vs protein synthesis

    Hi all, I've read recently that drinking alcohol can reduce protein synthesis by 20%. This is obviously very worrying and I wondered if the 20% reduction for for a day or two after drinking or for my whole life? This might be a dumb question but any answers are appreciated. I'm planning on drinking at the weekend but not sure how this might affect future gains. Thanks

    Unless you're a professional bodybuilder making money for your physique and prepping for a show, you can enjoy a drink or two from time to time. All things in moderation.
    Progressive overload + progressive eating = gains. Simple as that!

    Ahh ok thanks man, will the effects be worse if I only drink once every few months but get very drunk?
