After watching the ad for a week, I finally gave in and picked up the Rep AB-3000 FID Bench for $100 yesterday. Seems brand new, I don't think it was ever used. It was a bit wobbly and I found that most of the bolts were just finger tightened and were coming off easily. I went over all the bolts with a wrench and tightened them up and it is rock solid now. Bench is big & heavy (85 lbs) and is a beast to move around, the wheels are no help unless you lift it up high.
Build quality & construction is equal to a pro-sumer or light-commercial bench. I think the design is a hybrid of the Hoist CF-2165 and CF-3165 benches - most of the bench seems a clone of the CF-2165, but the hand-grip and foot-pad mechanism seem to be from the CF-3165. All-in-all, seems like a excellent bench though it takes up quite a bit of room in the limited space of my gym. Will use it for a few weeks and see if I like it more than my IM Super Bench.

Auctions pose a better opportunity for everyone to get in on good deals. With craigslist its first come first serve...a lot of times you wont even know something was for sale if it gets purchased within hours. With auctions everyone can see the product...do research on the product to see what a good deal is. Sorry if you're butt hurt that someone is exposing a not so secret place where you score deals from.
Ive bought on govdeals before and im still posting about it. So I guess im being a dick to myself for letting others know about potential deals I will want to jump on. Greedy much?

I think you severely underestimate the amount of lurkers in the equipment forum. For as long as I've been a board member, it's been a no-no to post auction deals. The reason being that true contributing forum members already know about the auction deals - so you're not helping any regulars. The only thing you are doing is alerting lurkers who provide no value to the community. Those lurkers would just drive the price up for any forum members who were bidding/watching.
If this was a small, closed forum with no lurkers, I would have no issue. But since it's one of the largest fitness websites out there with a **** ton of lurkers, you're f'ing regulars over.Garage Gym Owner

You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

Anyone here buy random equipment they dont need...
Who here buys random stuff they don't need because the seller won't split up the equipment for sale in an ad??
For example... theres an ad for a rack and bench for sale with plates... they happen to be a full set of Hamptons, actually a full set with like eight 45s and a beautiful patina... BUT only if I buy the rack and bench. WTF
*In the photo the rest of the 45s are in the background

I've done that before,
Particularly a few years ago when I finally found a set of IronMaster DB's in my area and had to take a whole gym with them to get the DB's.
Three bulky pulley machines, a generic Olympic bench, and a Chinese plate set later... luckily I was able to give the "extras" away.Last edited by TheDude8734; 12-18-2017 at 07:55 AM.

Most of my equipment buys has included stuff I didn't want but bought and sold the extras to pay for what I wanted to keep. My gym has been in a state of being upgraded as I flipped equipment, found out what i wanted to keep until now, everything I have is nice commercial equipment , vintage Yorks, all paid for by someone else.
Now OK for Sig line to be a novel

AB-5000 is -finally- finished with development as of last week. Probably 10 prototypes later. It's crazy how many little details needed to go into this bench to get it where we wanted. Our final prototype was good and now production will start. It's about 17-17.5" high, and will have the thicker/grippy upholstery standard. Pricing will be around $299.

Duke, Very cool! Thanks for the info, was considering the FB-5000, but just might wait out for the AB-5000 for my second adjustable bench. Is the back pad 12"? Also how thick is the padding 3", or 4"? 3X3 11 gauge steel for the whole frame? Thanks and that should cover all my questions.
Sorry lurkers for the craigslist derail, but I figured those few additional questions would be worthy to know lol.
