Well if you want cheap you can't be picky on the brand. Those plates are quite common but I've never heard where they were originally sold at. Probably a big box store. Pretty run of the mill.

Thanks, yeah I was more so wondering if they were a good buy, I found some others of the same make for below 50¢/lb. Any worries on those scratching a nice bar and/or weight tolerances?

IMO 40 cents / pound is a decent price for used plates. You can always make an offer for less, say $50 and see what happens.

Weight tolerances will of course vary a bit as these seem to be no-name/generic/box-store plates. As long as both plates in the pair are with a pound of each other, I wouldn't worry much about it - it is what it is. If you want accuracy and tight tolerance, they you have to pay for it. I have three pairs of Weider 45 lb grip plates from Sears & Walmart. Cheap as they come. And they weighed between 43 and 45 pounds on my luggage scale. I matched up pairs with similar wts and they are good to go.

When you get the weights, inspect the holes with you fingers. If you find any burrs or slag deposits, knock them out with a screwdriver or something. Then take a file or sandpaper and go to town - smooth the inner surface of the holes till you are happy. And no more worries about scratching your nice bar.

I've bought from him before..He is a good guy..I got some Hampton Urethane plates from him and he calls me whenever he gets more to give me first shot before he lists them. Manage to complete an entire set that way and he gives me a good price.

He always has some good stuff

I called about the Hoist bench to see if price was for real ($65)..Person said someone was buying it for $150 unless I wanted to offer more..Sounds a little shady so I bailed out.

Whats a good price for U90s stage 1, large PB stand, PB sport bench in great condition? I want to pay half of retail which is $315. I feel like he won't take $315 though. He wants $475 and says retail was $736 but hes also including 5lb, 10lb, 15lb dumbbells and urethane straight bar that I don't want.

Ive seen them sold for $225-$300 around chicago...closer to $300 with the stand. You could pay his price, then sell the dumbbells and bar, which might get you around $100. Personally I'd sooner buy a new set for $379 just to avoid the hassle of doing that. some retailers (around here anyway) will take 10% off retail. any flat surface of the right height will work for powerblocks. if you are set on having the stand, your best deal is getting him as low as he'll go on the lot then sell what you dont want or see if he will take less and leave out the db's and bar.

Those Powerblock bars, IMO, are less than useless.

I actually didn't factor in sales tax so I don't mind offering $340. I am seeing most PBs but no U-90s sell around $200 in NY but I don't see any PBs in NJ where I am. If they sell PBs around you with stand around $300, I should offer like $375-400 to include the bench. I saw Dickssportinggoods had 15% off and free ship but with tax PBs came out to $272. Dicks doesn't sell Urethane models though. I only saw 2 websites selling U-90s for $379 but they charge shipping. They weren't offering any sales when I saw them. It doesn't look like that stand will fit the PBs when I upgrade them to more weight. I could live without the stand and I did see some better benches recommended here like Rep fitness and Rogue. However with the quality and amount of weight equipment I am seeing sold in NJ I don't think I will see U-90s or any good bench come up soon. Retail with tax for the straight bar and dumbbells is $203.

This is How I look at it if I were to resell them

$299 for U-Powerblocks with stand (I easily get $250 for regular 5-45lbs with stand)
    $100-$125 for bench
    $30 (For Dumbbells at $0.50Lb)
$50 (BUT ONLY SOLD WITH THE DUMBBELLS)

If there's none in you're area and you want a pair. A premium on getting these should be factored in to you're mind versus what others say. $475 isn't bad, but $425-$450 is where I'd be. Obviously area matters in cheaper is better. Just my 2 cents.

May want to check with PB; not sure if the warranty transfers from one private owner to another. one of my plates (Classic Elites) bent and they replaced it free of charge so their CS is good. Shouldn't have that issue with the urethanes but having the warranty is still noce.

Yeah, this was being sold in philadelphia 82 miles from my house. I just didn't want to pay extra for those things I didn't want and have to bother with selling them. I checked the ad today and he deleted it, I guess someone bought it. I didn't post the link here because I didn't want anyone else seeing it and buying it. I wonder if someone here saw it and was able to get the listing using my post and jumped on it. The listing was up for 11 days before I posted it here.

I checked that, unfortunely it doesn't transfer. That was one of the reason I posted here and considered buying brand new from Dicks with a 15% off sale but it was still too much and wasn't Urethane PBs.

I wonder if someone here saw it and was able to get the listing using my post and jumped on it. The listing was up for 11 days before I posted it here.
    In Philadelphia?

I checked that, unfortunely it doesn't transfer. That was one of the reason I posted here and considered buying brand new from Dicks with a 15% off sale but it was still too much and wasn't Urethane PBs.
I don't think Dicks sells the versions that are expandable beyond 50. I'd avoid those unless you are just going with low weight options and something else for higher DB weights

Retail with tax for the straight bar and dumbbells is $203.
did you check other brick & mortar stores on the website that are near you? in most regions there are actual fitness stores that carry all the PB models.

After I saw your post I looked for some. I found 2 that do sell them, they aren't close, 60+ miles away, but I can manage if its a good price. One website wouldn't load for me, so I don't know about that place and the couple others I found don't sell PBs. They don't list their prices on the website so I'd have to call or go there. The one website says closeout special on PB sport 5.0 and 9.0.

Dicks sells elites, that are expandable to 90lbs. They just had a 25% off free ship for cyber monday but only on the sport model.

So he purposely put that listing up to drive sellers PB prices down to flip them?

Sorry I can't embed pictures yet. What would you all pay for this double cage? It is a used BFS. I'm looking for a good cage, but don't want to pay too much.

Well that set up it $4895, and it's 7 gauge. If youre just looking for a single rack I find that setup rather useless for a home user, TBH. I don't even know where I would price that for a home gym type rack. The rather 50% of new for used equipment I think doesn't really apply hear and would have to be way cheaper for 2 half racks in 1. Maybe 1000-1300? Idk

Husband is 6'5" and I am 5'5', so thought the double would be a good idea since a regular cage is too short for him to do overhead lifting in? And we could work out together. However I am thrown by the 7 gauge, as in I have no idea what that means, how is it useless? I don't want useless. Thanks for the response. I did not think it was that costly to buy new.

Total noob here too, in case you hadn't surmised that yet. I noticed you said it is a half rack or two half racks in one. How is it not a full rack? Help me understand the difference please. I'm pretty sure I don't want a half rack.
    Thanks for your help.

Edited to add. I see it does not have any safety catches, just the spotter arms on the one side. The other side just has jcups, so would be virtually useless for regular lifting I'm guessing. Is that what you are talking about? And I looked up 7 gauge.

If you have the room for a rack this size it's a good solid rack. 7 gauge refers to the metal thickness, 7 gauge being heavier. I would want the safety arms for both sides, if they aren't with the rack, you should be able to get some but factor that in as an additional expense. Pricing depends on how bad you want this particular rack. A couple of weeks ago there was a rack similar to this one made by Legend Fitness for sale in Columbus ( without the lifting platform) for $400, so if I wanted this one , I would pay up to about $700 max. and try for a lower price, this rack will be harder to sell than most because of the space it requires.
Now OK for Sig line to be a novel

No, I am saying that Philadelphia is a very competitive market - possibly the most competitive in the country - posting about a listing in this thread didn't bring it to anyone's attention. If it was a good deal, you wouldn't have had time to think about it, let alone post about it.

The spotters for each side are shown in the pics, so if the price is right, you have the room for it, and can pick it up, go for it.
