For hypertrophy purposes DB Press is slightly better, especially if you don't have a spotter.

However, it's slightly harder to progress with because of 5lbs increment, and if you lift significant anount of weight, getting to the starting position could be a challenge.

So dumbbells will give me bigger chest? Then why do so many people use barbell instead of dumbbell?

My chest was built almost exclusively with dumbbells in my avi. However I only put up about 300 on flat BB bench at the time. Recently started actually training it and now I'm up to 355 or so. BB is much better for strength but you'll build a great chest with dumbbells

Whatever you use, the difference in results will be insignificant.

Why people use BB Press? Cuz it's easier, and more noob friendly. You don't have to stabilize us much as you do with dbs. You can progress with it faster. It's also easy to set up.

If you're like most ppl, combine BB with DB work, then finish with cable or machines. Like Bench Press -> Dumbbell Press -> Cable Crossover/Pec Deck Fly -> Dips. Variety is good.

In my experience dumbbells result in way better delts and serratus compared to barbell. The level of stability is a lot higher and I always felt a better squeeze. Barbell is awesome though but I would never give up DB press. You'll get better gains. IMO you should do Both. Cycle them throughout the week
