What's up! Squeezed in some leg work yesterday, knee is holding up well but no where near what I used to do on leg day. Squats, feel like I'm starting all over, two or three times over the past 2.5 years I've had everything feeling good, jump up in weight and here comes the pain, so this time, taking it very slow, try to aim for about 5 sets of 5 reps, started back at just about the bar and increase weight each session as long as it feels good. Otherwise not a bad session.
Squats - 5 Sets Plus a few with just the bar as warm up
Leg Press - 4 working sets - 2 warm up sets and Super Set each set with Toe Presses for Calves
Leg Extensions - 4 Working Sets
Lying Leg Curls - 4 Working Sets
Seated Leg Curls - 4 Working Sets
Standing Calve Machine - 4 Working Sets
My intent in jumping back in this and running through the remainder of my two tubs of Post Factor is going to be to utilize my normal gym and the little gym here at work and really hammer through some sessions almost daily. Rather than the normal 4 day split and see how the recovery is at that pace compared to what I was feeling on the 4 day split. I believe that is the best way to gauge a recovery product. So far the product has been beneficial but I want to push running through the end of this and see how it goes.

Just got back from a semi late session, hit delts, traps and some cardio. Overall session felt good, nothing crazy, focused mostly on pressing. Hit a good pre workout meal, followed the session with some Post Factor.
Standing OH BB Press: 6 Sets
OH Press (using attachments on Power Rack): 6 Sets
Seated OH Hammer Strength Station: 5 Sets
DB Lateral Raises: 4 Sets
DB Shrugs : 5 Sets
Cardio: Incline walk for 25 minutes
Post Factor: Went with Chocolate this evening, used a tad bit more water than expected. Mixed well, tasted good but a couple ounces less fluid and it would have been that great thickness I've been enjoying!

What's good all, Guess technically I should start with saying Happy Thanksgiving all! Session ended up a lot later than expected but got it in and the upside was there were only about 3 other people in the gym. Decided to take a look at your guys (Blue Star Nutraceuticals) Chiseled program. I spent some time looking through the program earlier today, will give it a shot. Right off the bat it kind of reminds of Short Cut to Shred with the Cardio Acceleration or movements directly after weights. It has been a while since I ran that program but I recall one of the things I didn't like (if I remember correctly) was that there wasn't much rest time between sets, weights, cardio and right back into weights, with this program, at least today's session there was about 90 seconds between sets. Switched up a couple of things but overall kept to the principle I think.
Incline BB Bench Press: 4 Working Sets of 6-8 Reps
Body Weight Squats
Flat Bench DB Press: 4 Working Sets of 8-10 Reps
Step up/Knee Raises
Cable Flys: 4 Working Sets of 8-10 Reps
Lunges
Assisted Dips: 4 Sets
Ropes
Chest Press Machine: 4 Sets of 6-8 reps
Jumping Jacks
I realize this isn't by the book, I wasn't sure if there was an error on day one but exercise 1 and 2 were both incline DB Bench Press, same rep range, I used the incline barbell press in place for the inclines. I was sweating and definitely feeling the cardio effects from the movements after the weights. I got a good dinner in about an hour in half before which I was thankful for, no pre being that my session started around 11p. My macros were probably on the shy side today, literally had breakfast and dinner. Using Post Factor, I went with the Key Lime and used a serving in a half tonight being low on my macros, mixed it with about 16oz of water and it taste delicious. It mixed up well with the blender ball, no issues so far. Looking to hit a session tomorrow morning before all the family stuff kicks off.

Quick post here in between all the Turkey Day Festivities! Got in a good back session and some cardio today, gym had quite a few more folks than I had anticipated. The intent was to go off the program, ended up in a different direction and it went very well. Used some Dymatize PRE, Xtend Blood Orange with Creatine and Beta Alanine and Post Factor Post.
T-Bar Rows - 4 Working Sets with Wide Bar
T-Bar Rows - 4 Working Sets with V Grip Handle
Pendlay Rows - 4 Working Sets
Seated Cable Row - 4 Working Sets with Wide Bar
Seated Cable Row - 4 Working Sets with V Handle Grip
Wide Grip Pull Downs - 4 Working Sets
Straight Bar Lat Pull Downs - 4 Working Sets
Cardio - 30 Minutes incline walk

Good morning all, today is looking like an off day due to some chores that need to get done then a planned day out with some friends and fam. Initially I was going to head in for some arm work and cardio but I think a rest day may do some good as I am feeling the effects of this past week and the workouts. Here is a post on yesterday's session, did some wheel work. Anyone that has followed along my journal knows I've had some issues with my knees making leg days impossible for stretches of time. Yesterdays went well, didn't over due it but worked up to 135 on BB Squat without much discomfort and aside from normal muscle fatigue the knee feels good today.
BB Squats: 6 Working Sets of 5 Reps
Leg Press: 5 Working Sets of 12-15 Reps
Lying Leg Curls: 5 Sets of 12-15 Reps
Seated Leg Extensions: 5 Sets of 12-15
Cardio: 30 Minutes at incline walk
I feel like Post Factor has been helping, while body parts worked are sore the soreness or recovery has been increased.

Took yesterday as an active rest day, still got in and hit some cardio but no weights, recovery has been pretty good overall considering that last week was pretty taxing, pushed more than I had in a while. Will be back at the weights tonight and will be getting a detailed review up sometime this week.

Final Review
I want to thank the folks at Blue Star for sending me a tub of Post Factor to try out and review. I requested the Chocolate Truffle flavor and then purchased the Key Lime and to get about a months worth of servings. Post Factor is Blue Star Nutraceuticals recovery supplement, it is something I had looked at a few times and had an interest in. Over the last few years I adapted more to eating whole foods after a workout compared to using shakes and after doing a little research and self testing I realized that pre and post workout shakes benefit from protein and carbs. In the past I had used Anabolic Window from Nutrabolics but that product was discontinued a few years ago and after that I never really found another recovery shake that I liked. Knowing that Blue Star is a reputable company I knew at some point I would pick up a container of this to try out. Here is a link to the product in the bb.com store - you can read all the tech/science behind the product as I won't get into all of that in this review but I will touch on some of the claims and how I felt the product worked out for me.
Profile
At 310 calories per serving, Post Factor is giving you 27 grams of protein, 50 grams of carbs, 3 grams of sugar, half a gram of fat, 2 grams of L-Carnitine L-Tartrate, half a gram of Cherry PURE, and 61mg of their XD Delivery Technology Complex. There are also some vitamins and antioxidants in the product. One of the first things I noticed and liked was that the ingredient list was not a mile long, pretty cut and dry which is nice. The additions that are included in the Muscle Recovery Complex and the XD Delivery Technology Complex are nice, seeing the 2g's of LCarn LTart was nice along with the Tart Cherry. I've used a few different LCarn products or supps that have LCarn - a few readings I looked at showed that at 2g's a day, there can be some great benefits to recovery as well as how your body metabolizes fat. There is a bit of different writings on the tart cherry but Blue Star claims that between the Tart Cherry and LCarnLTart recovery is drastically better. I don't know that I could agree with 370% (science) but I do believe the product aided and assisted with recovery. I was able to get in more sessions and get more out of my sessions I felt. Initially I had been on a 4 day split, after using the product for a week or so I started pushing in some extra work with the intent of seeing how the body reacted and was capable of pushing out. On the regular 4 day split I can say recovery differences were noticeable and while adding in 2-3 days at times, I was able to get the extra work in and push out some good sessions on back to back days or working some body parts multiple times in a week without rest days in between.
Taste/Smell
While smell isn't the most important thing I think it is worth touching on. Having a wine background and enjoying wine you learn that if something doesn't smell right you may not want to take the next step in tasting it. With this product both flavors had nice aromas, no issues there.
The taste, I was surprised with the flavoring, chocolate being as common of a flavor as it is, I tend to either like or dislike them. The ones I like tend to be pretty common in taste, this one was not only very good and did have a different taste to it. The flavor was not over powering and seemed to linger on the palate more than most. I can't really compare the Key Lime to other supps as this was the first Key Lime supp I've had but it was outstanding as well. I do enjoy Key Lime Greek Yogurt and while this did not taste exactly like that it was very pleasing.
Mixability
This was probably the only area where the product gave me some occasional issues. I've had proteins that have mixed a lot worse but this did take a lot of shaking to really get it dissolved. I didn't have major clumping but after the initial shakes I'd normally have quite a bit of smaller clumps. I used the same shaker most the time to see if it was a consistent issue or not, it was one of the shakers with the metal ball inside. Normally it would take about 2-4 rounds of some good shaking to get most the product dissolved. Below are some pictures you can see some of the smaller clumps I'm talking about. Keep mind, this was not a major issue and I've seen much worse, but this as probably the only negative I found with this product. There was a noticeable amount of foam when shaking initially but it does settle fairly quick.
Cost
Here at bb.com the product sells for $56.99 a tub, you are getting 14 servings per tub so it comes out to $4.07 a serving, while it would be nice to see this in the low to mid $3 dollar range per serving I would purchase at the current price considering the quality ingredients you are getting and knowing Blue Star is putting out quality products. Its nice to be able to get a good post shake out of one product also, mixing multiple things PWO, Intra Workout and Post Workout gets to be a hassle after a while.
Overall
I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a good recovery product, on a scale of 1-10 I would probably go with an 8.5 on the product and flavoring I'd go a 9 on chocolate and 10 on key lime. Is this a product I'll purchase and use again, yes! Thank you again Blue Star, I appreciate the opportunity to have been able to try this product out and enjoyed it!
