Thought this might be worthy to post here. On Saturday I was lucky and I guess prepared enough to accomplish a lifetime goal of mine by totalling 2000 along with hitting an 800+ competition deadlift. Going into the meet the only goal was to hit a 2k total however possible, so every attempt was strategic and ended up being executed perfectly which I'm extremely proud of. Ended the day 8/9 with a 770 squat (meet PR), 425 bench (PR), and 805 deadlift (PR) with a close miss at 825.
I have a deadlift only meet this Sunday in my hometown of Rochester, NY so I'm taking this whole week off and won't be cutting weight. Not sure what to expect, I think a week off should be enough to be fully recovered but either way I'll be shooting for a PR. If anyone has any experience with meets back to back weeks I'd love some feedback on how it went for ya. Since it's just a deadlift only I'm not too concerned but would like to be 100% for it.
I'm so happy with how the day went and it feels amazing to finally take down a goal that has seemed so far away for so long. Thanks for watching!

Only 9-10lbs. Really not a fan of making big cuts, huge cuts just adds another variable for something that could go wrong. I've seen 20+lb cuts and even if they gain it all back in 24 hours your muscles don't always get back to 100% as far as performance goes.
I just did a water cut and made weight pretty easy, didn't have to sauna or anything and was still sweating when I got to weigh ins. It worked out pretty well
Thanks brother hope you do too!
Yeah man it's an awesome setting! Obviously no AC so I was a little nervous about that but it ended up being cool that day so it wasn't bad at all. Definitely the most interesting venue I've competed at. I was there last year too, not sure if Gene will have the meet again there next year but we'll see
Thanks so much John. Go fins!780/425/805

Me too, there were a bunch of strong girls who competed too. You did amazing.
VO2Maxima competed at the same meet and hit a 945 total at 132 in wraps... 350/210/385 absolutely insane. She obviously won female best lifter. Legitimate strength that came from a lot of hard work over the years. Becki you should be proud!780/425/805

thanks so much bro, there's always room to improve so it's just been a lot of focusing and addressing weaknesses
I appreciate it thanks man!
Thanks a lot. Squat definitely had the most attention in training the last month before the meet!780/425/805

As a professional and certified arm chair judge and referee in multiple sports I have to disagree slightly.
They looked borderline. Which is perfect as long as they get at least 2 whites. I wish I could cut depth better and not sink it so low to sacrifice weight on the platform. I've seen outrageously worse get passed. My Training Journal: http://tinyurl.com/jasons-journal
