So starting very soon, and well into October, this year, like every year on bb.com the last decade or so, we will get threads from new posters who want to walk on to a D1 school "next year". They will all claim that football is the number one passion in their life ye only managed to play during their sophomore year in H.S.
None of them have been working out recently, but they all have "heart" and "desire" and just need a routine to get in shape quick for tryouts. And of course, it has to be D1 or not at all.
Anyone want to bet over under? I am betting six by October 1st.

Honestly, I would LOVE to put on the pads again and hit the gridiron, but reality is a bitch. People need to understand that even a single year off from practice puts you miles behind others. and in all honesty, life isn't a Disney movie. If you didn't get a D1 scholarship in high school, it's likely because you just didn't have the raw talent and skill needed. Some people are just born and breed to play. No amount of hard work can change that. Brock lesnar is a BEAST and a freak of an athlete. Even he only made it as far as the practice squad in the NFL before getting cut, and I honestly believe the only reason he got the shot was because he was famous.
The rock was a second stringner in college ball, and honestly that guy HUSTLES, and I bet he hustled hard during that time as well. Harder than 99% of the population.
What am I trying to get at? Even genetic freaks who have played football all their life don't make it even as starters in college ball. That's life, it ain't fair, but it's how the game is played. For every guy hoping to be a walk on who only played JV ball there are probably 10 talented highly skilled players who also didn't make the first cut and are trying again."Once more into the fray

I was expecting fewer new threads and more zombie bumps of old threads. Still holding out hope for the zombie bumps.

I love the would be Spartan, I guess he was looking for someone to stroke his ego "sure brah, walk-on easy, you'll nail it brah". Fool! Unfortunately almost all are delusional fool's. It would be nice to have one or two who actually visit the NCAA website and educate themselves on the process and what's available. There is great football being played at all 5 divisions (D1-FBS, D1-FCS, D2, D3, NAIA) and for the above average player there is an opportunity out there that fits in with their educational goals. I wish these guys who only consider D1-FBS power 5 conference schools would read about the guys who leave once they figure out that they are going to ride the pine for 5 years (or get cut). We see guys transfer to D2, D3, and NAIA from D1 and there is no guarantee that they are going to dominate there but at least they'll get off the pine and have some fun PLAYING FOOTBALL.

I almost feel bad for that guy. So delusional, but then that's the case with most of these threads. "Hay gaiz, I'm headed to campus now and BP 225 x 14, do you think I can make the team?"
"I'm pretty sure your wrong, but care to elaborate..."

Its because the guy goes out and plays flag football and is really good, and thinks he can do the same against D1 competition. In late Jan/Feb we will get college kiddies who play pick up games think they want to "walk on" to a DI basket ball program "next year". And when next year comes along they want to try out for BUDS "next year". And the year after that its the Foreign Legion. Then its getting a job at google . . .

Yeah, that makes number 3. Totally fits the pattern. Lifelong dream, but them went to CC and then transferred to a small college without a team. But will walk on to D1 "next year", probbaly right after he goes out for Delta.
