Then again, perhaps it is the fact that you called and expressed your concerns that made them take notice and make a point of getting it right the first time.

Kabuki has made some strange business decisions, but I do believe that they want to create/sell products that are high-quality and meet a need. Who knows, maybe reading through this thread was a "come to Jesus" moment for them.

I would agree that they had the right intentions with believing they had a very high quality design on paper and wanting to charge a premium for it, but their end result from production didn't meet their high quality design concept. Where they've gone wrong is trying to sell their less than perfect bar at their intended premium prices and other shady things along the line like lying about bar inventory, etc. I don't have any issues with companies making mistakes provided they make up for it on their end. I've just always gotten the impression they would rather "get one over" on their customer base rather than honestly trying to make a bad situation right. I hope they figure this rather important part out that you can't try and screw your customer base!

    ThreeFinger,

What do you think the $599 Kabuki Power Bar does better than the $275 Rogue Ohio Power Bar?

Prices are for zinc on both bars.

No freezer lol. Take the old one out, hold the bar at angle, set bottom in and let top fall back. If it doesn't drop right in, QUICKLY lower and turn sleeve....shake, swear, threaten, scare it whatever it takes to get it out before it sticks in lol.

Kabuki seems like an odd name for a company of this nature. Where did the name come from?

    Kabuki and Male Prostitution

Male prostitutes (kagema), who were often passed off as apprentice kabuki actors and who catered to a mixed male and female clientele, did a healthy trade into the mid-19th century despite increasing restrictions. Many such prostitutes, as well as many young kabuki actors, were indentured servants sold as children to the brothel or theater, typically on a ten-year contract. Relations between merchants and boys hired as shop staff or housekeepers were common enough, at least in the popular imagination, to be the subject of erotic stories and popular jokes. Young kabuki actors often worked as prostitutes off-stage, and were celebrated in much the same way as modern media stars are today, being much sought after by wealthy patrons, who would vie with each other to purchase the Kabuki actors favors. onnagata (female-role) and wakashū-gata (adolescent boy-role) actors in particular were the subject of much appreciation by both male and female patrons, and figured largely in nanshoku shunga prints and other works celebrating nanshoku, which occasionally attained best-seller status.

Onnagata or oyama (Japanese: 女形・女方, "woman-role"), are male actors who played women's roles in Japanese Kabuki theatre.[1] The modern all-male kabuki was originally known as yarō kabuki ("man kabuki") to distinguish it from earlier forms. In the early 17th century, shortly after the emergence of the genre, many kabuki theaters had an all-female cast (onna kabuki), with women playing men's roles as necessary. Wakashū kabuki ("adolescent-boy kabuki"), with a cast composed entirely of attractive young men playing both male and female roles, and frequently dealing in erotic themes, originated circa 1612.

Theatre, artifice, fake, insincere, something done only for show. AKA lip service

Congress stated that mine safety would be a priority but I fear that it is just kabuki and nothing will happen.

To obtain Kabuki: Under the 3rd full moon of the year, the two individuals that wish to obtain Kabuki, must touch penis heads, for 3 full seconds. Only two people can have Kabuki, three or more would be gay.
3rd full moon was March 1st. That was your best chance to get the endcaps to fit.

This is when full moons will occur in 2018, according to NASA:

Will throw my 2 cents in, have had the bar a few weeks, here are a few thoughts:

-Got the electroless nickel finish, retail is $699 (I had a discount code however), shipping was additional $50.
-Bar took several weeks to show up (rogue's shipping has spoiled me). They said it was due to needing more nickel to do the plating
-Bar showed up and immediately noticed the end caps were messed up. Finish was rubbing off. This kind of irked me as the bar was literally right off the press due to the plating issue, so it was sent out with this as a known issue. Also saw a video about a month earlier with this issue that some someone had and was sent replacement caps, so was curious why it hadn't been addressed yet.
-Also have a small mark on one of the collars, looks like oil dripped on it and there's a small circular stain on the finish.
-Other than the above issues the bar was flawless, knurl was super grippy but not sharp.
-Eventually got the new pressed caps, but one did not fit. Was told the press was too hard and flattened it out too much, was sent another pair (3rd overall) which ended up fitting fine.
-Buddy was in town who's a beast and did worked up to some squats with roughly 680lbs on bar, seemed to be quite a bit of whip.
-Overall bar is nice, but when you consider it's 2x as much as the OPB I don't see a reason to purchase this over one as it's not twice as nice.

If Kabuki can make a similar bar for around $400 and fix the QC issues then I think the bar would do very well. At about $750 after shipping, you might as well grab an Eleiko bar.
I make bad videos in my basement about training, which makes me an internet guru.

Don't understand why they are sending out caps still to big. They know there are some like that. Why not check before sending. Or punch a hole in the big ones and say here's a free keychain. Their emails keep talking up their high quality standards and QC...

It's a bit funny as I assume they're scrambling some for damage control, but by doing so, they're actually creating more issues by not being thorough. I still give them somewhat of a pass though as with a 1st gen bar and being a small shop doing everything in house it has to be tough. I'd likely be more upset if I had some of the issues with knurling or coloring that some have mentioned.

Well they also hyped the sh!t out of the bars with misleading statements. And it sounds like they straight up lied about delivery times to some people that bought the bars. I'm still not seeing the advantage, either objective or subjective, of a Kabuki bar over Rogue or American Barbell.

I’m sorry I said it before but it warrants another go round, Texas power bars were 231 shipped on eBay last week. I own two and got a third because in my mind all three are cheaper than the kabuki and of money didn’t exist I’d still take the Texas 7 days out of 7 over this thing. My oldest is nine years old and beaten dropped with 400lbs numerous times still flawless shape. I watched a video on elitefts how when you drop a bearing bar two feet after unloading a deadlift it damages the bearings and washers after time. I can go drop my Texas off a cliff and it will still be flawless

The knurl is better and I find I use it more than my 20kg OPB (I'm sure the price also subconsciously matters here). Duffin's said this bar is more of a specialty bar and isn't meant to compete with Rogue or anyone else for that matter, but they may be working on something that does soon.

TBH I'd rather go OPB at that point (which is $265 shipped). I was just having a convo about the TPB the other day, not sure if their quality has gone down over the years or the competitions has just gone up that much. I still think it's a good power bar, but OPB has it beat by a long shot IMO.

Is that when he got called out by Bill H. on IG and Bill offered a H2H test? Duffin has been putting out some crackpot gorilla science on this pixie dust sprinkled bars...bout time he got called on it.

Knurl on the OPB is not my favorite at all but can do it's job fine. As seen at the Arnold with Ray Williams and Blaine taking it for a ride. Which then got used for the bench and killer deadlifts.

So, how does a bar that is marketed as a power bar, with the dimensions of a power bar, getting powerlifting federation approved aka throwing money at a few (uspa), and grinding against other competing bars in a video not competing against other power bars and how is it a specialty bar? Because it's hard? The Titan titex bar also has a listed very high Rockwell hardness. We're not sure what others are as it's never been that important. I'd rather my knurl wear down at the cups making it easier to adjust back and forth.

Super high tensile strength? I'm not seeing an application that deserves the need much past 190k. The Vulcan SS is like 240k so that's not to special anymore.

OPB I personally don't like because of the gritty knurl but it's one I always recommend in a list of other fine bars to get anymore. It's value to performance/specs is hard to look past. The TPB is a classic and still a good bar. If it was 29mm I'd have owned one long ago. What quality issues have you seen with it? I haven't heard of any and some have recently been bought and posted on here. Even the full trifecta of TPB, TSB, and TDB by urban.

I haven't heard of any and some have recently been bought and posted on here. Even the fill trifecta of TPB, TSB, and TDB by urban.
I have no issues with the quality, and that 20% off eBay deal Tombro referred too made these bars a STEAL! 99% of the knurling on all my Buddy Capps bars look good (few odd spots here and there), the black zinc is extremely well done, and the sleeves look bad@ss as usual. I had a pretty rough drop with 300lbs and my TPB is no worse for the wear, the TDB arrived as straight as an arrow, and the TSB is probably 2-3mm off after checking it. ALTHOUGH, given the condition of the tube UPS obviously dropped the bar on one end pretty bad because it was busted out. Makes no real world difference though, I've seen videos of the Ohio Power Bar and they were off just about the same as my TSB upon arrival.

Edit: I'm a happy camper right now, and for the price of a single Kabuki you could have gotten two Buddy Capps barbells of your choice. I would have done the TSB and TPB if I could only buy two, the TPB is fine for deadlifting/bench, and then obviously we know what the TSB is made for

Fyi rogues limit of acceptability is 3mm. If it's under no return. If over deserves a return. It's a very small amount and wouldn't effect functionality.
