Sounds like status quo. So, if I didn't cancel my order I'd be getting it anytime between now and a few more weeks. Awesome.
They just need to remove BO as an option. Just do bare steel. That would be nice. Still should be great for lifting.
Thank You! I've asked for measurements a couple times. Barely over 16 but at least it's there. Either yours is off or they need to change their description. A short sleeve length is not a good selling point.
Nice. Having more sleeve would be better. Only problem is many lift in feds that require the use of a standard power bar for one if not all lifts and even those feds that allow special bars many meet directors still use a standard power bar as they don't want to spend the money on more then that and a deadlift bar.
When I was lifting with a crew we benched with a standard power bar. Many 700+ benches were going on. When chit hit the fan having spare collar at the end was very helpful. When over a grand was on the bar it was scary as f***. Worse accident was a guys arm broke as he was pressing. Quick action and proper spotting saved him from a lot more damage.
A standard 29mm power bar, of good quality, can handle a lot. Look at what the Texas power bar has gone through over the years, IPF/USAPL/USPF/USPA/etc etc. Or just watch Blaine's instagram training.

But he's marketing to strength athletes and powerlifters. Trying to get approvals from several federation's including a couple that require a standard dimension powerbar. If he wasn't trying to do that, and hype how it's the perfect powerlifting knurl, how it's the best bar ever, how it's "next gen", and charge a premium price for it etc then I wouldn't compare to what's necessary to lift really big weights or other similar bars.

Cool. I'm so looking forward to getting the Vulcan SS in. The wait is killing me but at least was expected. Genesis Jack too. Here with in a couple weeks will be like Christmas again.
Waiting to see what Rep does for the knurl on the next run of SS powerbars. Another month for that one.My Training Journal: http://tinyurl.com/jasons-journal

Possible the sharper knurl caused you to subconsciously not grip as hard. Give it several more sessions to get the nerves a chance to adjust.
But I agree there's a lot of space between peaks on it. The Westside v1 was slightly tighter.Last edited by Jason2459; 01-11-2018 at 08:08 AM.

Man, I thought you would have had that thing by now! looking forward to the review.
Yeah, it certainly feels aggressive/coarse but I'm starting to question the benefit. My hands were already calloused over pretty bad, now I'm noticing skin coming off so it has me concerned worse things are to come. I have seen pictures of torn up hands and I would like to avoid downtime from injury, my routine is going too well to be sidelined right now.
Good suggestion, I'm going through a deload week and will probably switch back to my REP just to smooth my callouses out. I actually enjoy the feel of the more aggressive knurl but if it tears my hands up during the next few session with no added grip benefit I may have to re-evaluate it's purpose. Maybe just use it for heavy squats since it's less likely to deform than my reject barbell. Either way I think the experience has been good, always wanted to see how the other side lives▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #58 ▪█─────█▪

How you grip for deadlifts can make tearing calluses worse. If you grip so the bar is across the palm and above (with knuckles facing downward) the calluses the bar will get pulled right into them and bunch them up more. This will cause them to tear. But if you grip with the bar access the calluses they won't get bunched up or tear as easily. There's a few vids out there on that too as well. If you're not already aware.
Edit: and if you have any rings and you don't take them off make sure to take them off. Causes more of that bunching and pinching to happen. My Training Journal: http://tinyurl.com/jasons-journal

http://www.formrolldie.com/new_page_1.htm
GENERAL KNURLING INFORMATION
Knurling is widely used in industry for many applications. Some of these include: decorative and "grip" surfaces, repair of undersized shafts and oversize bores, and driving serrations and splines. The word "knurling" applies to both the method of production, and the rolled section on the part. It is usually produced by forcing a knurling die into the surface of a rotating part, displacing material from the original diameter. Two methods of specifying the comparative tooth spacing are currently in use - CIRCULAR PITCH and DIAMETRAL PITCH. The CIRCULAR PITCH system has been used for many years and is based on the distance between teeth (pitch) and expressed as TEETH per INCH of circumference or TPI. The DIAMETRAL PITCH system is fully explained in American Standard ANSI/ASME B94.6-1984. Unlike gearing, only four standard pitches are used (64, 96, 128, & 160) for blank diameters from 3/32" to 1". Diametral Pitch dies are designed to permit accurate tracking on standard fractional sized blanks, making blank diameter selection easier. Due to the many variables involved in any knurling operation (speeds, feeds, coolant, hardness of piece, condition of pins, etc.), determining proper blank diameters for circular pitch dies is a bit more difficult, and usually involves some amount of experimentation. The tips along with the formulas on the following pages should help, but if problems persist, feel free to call us and we'll be glad to offer our advise.
SPEEDS AND FEEDS
Knurling is normally done at the same speed as High-Speed cutting operations. Bump knurling from the cross-slide should be done in 10 to 20 revolutions. (Over rolling will cause flaking and poor knurl life). Knurls from the turret should be fed onto the work at about .005 to .020 per rev. (slower for harder materials faster for soft materials) and off the work about twice as fast.
TRACKING (AND MIS-TRACKING)
When a single knurl makes its first revolution and then falls back into the first tooth that it rolled, it is tracking correctly. If the circumference of the part being rolled is not an approximate multiple of the pitch of the knurl, the knurl may land somewhere between the two initial teeth, causing it to start a new row. This may cause double tracking (or any multiple of the initial pitch). This problem can usually be corrected by changing the diameter of the work by +/- .005" to .010". Otherwise, order a special knurl.▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #53 ▪█─────█▪

Thanks for the tips! Fortunately, I have a few Powerlifting friends that have made me pretty OCD about form, efficiency, and gripping the barbell properly. My issue right now is that I'm training myself 5-6 times a week on average, and then training a friend 2-3 times a week outside of my regular sessions. I'm making GREAT progress in all my lifts, but it's taking a toll on my hands. haha

I use this callus remover which is for feet I think....I actually have a different one but looks more or less the same
https://www.amazon.com/Fairyland-Col...t+corn+remover
if my calluses get bad which they haven't in a long while I just smooth them out with that thing and it feels 1000x better instantly. Ever since I got the rogue deadlift bar which is the sharpest knurl I had my hands have evidently just adapted and don't really get ****ed anymore

You can see an Eleiko getting knurled here. Lots of nice small peaks. Great for grip

There is play in the sleeves and they are noisy when spun, I'm not sure if this is normal for this bar or not?Last edited by turbolsxstang; 01-12-2018 at 04:17 PM.

A little lateral play can be normal. Noisy not so much. What kind of noisy?

Pretty sure SK had a good bit of lateral play on his Duffalo.. maybe he'll chime in. Doesn't seem like they should be noisy... you got bare steel? Cool bar man! Enjoy it!

Yes its bare steel, I think I need to just stop comparing it to my rogue bars. The sleeve play is the same on both sides so I think its normal but its more then rogues so it caught my attention. I also just notice some double tracked knurl aswel,
https://imgur.com/ZDwh3Ca
I need to stop looking at it and get to work using it. Normally I don't look over stuff this closely but with its price tag I am.Last edited by turbolsxstang; 01-12-2018 at 08:23 PM.

Ya was a little disappointed but it doesn't effect the function at all so whatever. Kabuki could've packed it a little better to prevent something like that happening but I'd still say it was more carelessness on UPS part. There was no bubble wrap or anything. Just a thin cardboard box that fit tightly around the Boomstick.
